i've had to move a couple of threads in the last day from this forum into the recipes and foods discussion forum. this seems to happen in spurts, now and again, and it's not really a huge deal, but i'd really appreciate it if you've got questions or comments that relate (even loosely) to eating, diet, or different types of foods, you'd post them in the appropriate forum. mmkay? are we all good? GREAT.

I'm going to tack this on to yours since it's attention getting (and I've been accused of being anally retentive as well).

You know I don't like the thought of editing posts so I'm going to ask your help in this. When posting things that may be considered obscene please keep in mind we have some younger members here. Even though I've let it go further what I've always had in mind is that if it isn't acceptable for cable TV it shouldn't be posted here.

Oh. I never go into the Recipe & Food forum because I have no interest in recipes. The forum names are decieving.

Stonecrest was right. Thanks.

Kreeli said she was moving threads to the Recipe forum, but I didn't see why she would move them unless they were about Recipes. But then I'm not sure which threads she moved since it didn't say.

So anyways... What topics are appropriate for the Vegan & Vegetarian forum? It seems like you could get rid of this forum if everything fits into a different forum. I'm confused.

Ah... ok. I'm not familiar with the particular threads that were moved so I'll let Kreeli comment on this more specifically.

Personally I see Vegetarian & Vegan as being geared more toward discussing lifestyle and beliefs. Questions like "Is Cool Whip veg*n?" "I'm making a cake, what can I use in place of eggs?" or "I'm going to Olive Garden, what do they have that I can eat?" would go in the food forum.

It's certainly not cut and dry and it's no big deal for one of us to move a thread. Seems as though people are sometimes offended or feel embarrassed by having their threads moved but there really is no need to be.

I am not a moderator, but can I make an anally retentive comment/request? Thread titles that give no indication whatsoever of what the thread is about make it difficult to read the boards efficiently. Not only am I not likely to read it, but if I want to follow it, it is hard to keep track of what each thread is about when there are 5 threads with names like, "idea." "something I thought of" "what do you think" "opinions?"

(Those are just examples I made up, my apologies if there are actually thread with these names.)

Recipes and Food Discussion is the title of the forum, and the two threads i moved there were "what do you all usually eat?" and "movie theatre popcorn". both are topics that deal with food. i don't think it's that hard to understand?

*scratches head*

makes sense to me.

i know sometimes there are topics that make us think "now where do i put this, cause it's about food, AND about veganism, AND about health? uhhhh?", it's happened to me a few times, in which case i just pick the forum i think mods will find it quickest and make sure to mention that i'm not sure where it goes, feel free to move it etc. and then hope for the best lol

(and hope i'm not inconveniencing the mods)

Thanks for the reminder. I admit I was one who started a thread in the wrong forum, but my excuse is that I'm relatively new yet, and not familiar with all the forums.

I totally understand ya though. I run a forum with over 6000 registered members, and every time I visit them I have to move a thread or two to an appropriate forum. Some people just want to get their 'important' thread in the main column which everyone reads.

When first posting my original topic ('What foods do you normally eat'), I was thinking it was a vegan question, but of course, it was about foods. I'll think more next time.

I don't know if I should feel guilty.....

But when I post something that's over the edge, I suppose I get a mail or PM when the post is edited or deleted?

(I know I'm walking on the edge sometimes )

None of us are really that busy (with mod-related duties) and what we do only takes a few seconds. Kreeli is just asking people to take a moment to make sure they're posting in the appropriate place. If you're not sure then we'll move it. No biggie.

I meant: when I post something to offensive or "way out of line", and it gets moderated, do I get a "warning" ?
