Especially since sesame street has not espoused vegetarian values and has frequently espoused very traditional values regarding what is food for children and what isn't. If they are going to take the traditional view of Thanksgiving as "dead bird day" and simultaneously personify animals, then they deserve having to suffer this bit of black humor. Big Bird IS a fowl.
Oh. I thought this was going to be about the time that Mr Hooper died and they aired the episode where they dealt with his death on Thanksgiving 1983 so that parents and kids could watch it togehter and talk about it. I remember watching it (I was 12 at the time but I still *loved* Sesame Street and wanted to see how the death was handled) It was very well presented.
But the cartoon is funny (sick, but funny)
