Hi, my name's jessa, I'm almost 15, and have a twin bro named Carter.

We're pretty close.

i'm pretty popular and he kinda was too, but then we got into some stupid tiff, and even tho i love him, i told a group of kids that he wets his bed. (he does, but i wasn't supposed to say anything!)

they started teasing him about it really bad, and i knew he was really really embarrassed, so i felt bad and apologized. he said it was okay.

but then come moday, it turns our EVERYONE knew then, and the teasing got way, way worse. He's kinda quiet and shy, so he dind't know what to do. he just kinda took it.

And then yesterday at school, after lunch he went to open his locker and a bunch of stacks of diapers tumbled out onto him and the floor.

Well everyone was laughing at him and he looked like he was about to cry so they all started teasing him worse, and taunting him about being a baby and junk.

so now i feel terrible, even tho he says not to feel bad.

i know it's tearing him up and i want to cuss all the bullies out, but then i think about it, it was MY fault that word got out in the first place.

What can i do?

How can i make it stop, and how can i make it up to Carter?

Please help!!!

Ach. Sorry to hear your brother's getting such a hard time about a problem so commonplace that the majority of people teasing him will have had it at some point in their lives. Heck, a lot of them probably still do.

Yeah, you shouldn't have told, but what's done is done. You've accepted that it was wrong, so don't beat yourself up about it too much. Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do to make it stop. Gossip spreads like wildfire in High School, as you've found out, and once it's out, it's out.

Luckily, gossip gets old fast in high school. Next week, they'll all be over who's going out with who ("What?! Dave and Alexa are going out!? Eeee! :O"), or some other trivial piece of information. Your brother's going to just have to grit his teeth and bear it until everyone's had their laughs. I should probably try to be the responsible adult here, and tell you to report it to a teacher too. After all, it is bullying.

If you're confident enough, the next time someone's making fun of him, you could always tell them something like "Hey! I wet the bed too, and there's nothing to be ashamed of." That'll throw it off your brother a little, and you could both bear it until the gossip burns out. But yeah, not everyone's willing to do that, so there's always chocolates/CDs/video games/etc you could buy him. :p

Delano's point about gossip getting old is one I very much agree with.

I just wanted to say you must have an amazing brother though. If my sister had done something like that to me I would have already have hit her by this point

I agree with Delano. Gossip gets old fast and no one will remember soon enough. Kids will be jerks. You can buy your brother off if necessary, or tell people you wet the bed, too.

Your brother sounds like a cool kid to not be hitting/hating you.

Oh, and you might get this a lot, but I think you're soooo lucky to have a twin. Sorry if it bothers you when people tell you that.

Have you tried telling everyone it was a lie? If you told them it was a lie, they might believe you.

From my own experiences, it's not worth trying. For the sake of gossip, some won't believe you. It's more interesting to gossip about someone who wets the bed, rather than someone who you were told wetted the bed, but actually the information turned out to be false.
