Subject: A Plea to All Who Care - Parrots in Peril

Dear fellow animal lovers and advocates,

I am writing to you today on behalf of the parrots who "live" at Scudders Breeding Aviary in Tacoma, Wa. These parrots live in filth and squalor in small dark kennels and are being used for breeding by the owners of Scudders Aviary. They don't care about their well being and only view them as an income source. Hundreds of parrots have died a tragic death at the hands of this breeding facility. Scudders has blood on their hands.

How can we as humans condone this kind of behavior by sitting idly by and doing nothing to try to help them. Parrots should be flying free with their own species in tropical climates free to choose their own mates, food and lifestyle. Yet these tropical parrots are forced to live in Tacoma, WA where winters are cold and bleak, and they are being used as breeding stock, their babies taken away from them unweaned and SOLD. What kind of life do they have locked up where they are not even allowed the freedom to fly and see the sun. You can read more about their ordeal if you will take a few minutes of your time to read the link below with the complete story of their ordeal.

http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/p...post?id=807717.

What you can do:

Please take a few minutes of your time and write to the following Pierce County Council people and ask them to please pass an ordinance that would require aviaries such as Scudders to be regularly inspected. There is a meeting coming up concerning this issue on August 8th. At the present time Scudders does not allow any inspections of their premises. This is the very very least that can be done, aside from closing them up completely. No bird or living creature should be forced to live this way.

In addition, please write to the News Tribune expressing your concern over the situation at Scudders. If you click on the link, it will take you into a Comments Area that is easy to post on.

Please let me know if you have ideas or suggestions to try to put an end to the Scudder situation and any other breeding facility where birds are viewed only as a way to make money. Parrots, unlike dogs and cats, are NOT DOMESTICATED and should not be forced to live in cages in an alien environment. Let us put an end to this cycle of abuse at the hands of humans and give parrots back their lives.

Another thing you can do easily is not shop at any store that sells parrots, birds or any other live merchandise.

With much appreciation and gratitude for your help,

Anna
