Is it possible to live a life completely free of animal exploitation?

I am a veggie, and would like to think that I am a compassionate person and think of others needs. But when I look around my bedroom, I still see signs of exploitation... a few examples:

Milk chocolate.

Suede bag (bought before I was veg).

Pillow with feathers inside.

Aquarium - it is a huge one, and the fish are looked after well, but is it right to keep animals as our own?

Products which could potentially have been tested on animals.

Even inside me, are vaccines which were almost definitly tested on animals.

I'm not really sure what the point of this post is, I was just shocked and disappointed in myself that my room is full of these things.

In a world where the entire system is based on animal exploitation, no, it's not really possible, which is why people say you can't be "100% vegan".

But I don't think that that has to be a negative thing at all. It means that you can always strive to improve

Yeah it would only be possible outside the current society, and being outside the current society would mean that it would be difficult to try to do activism and make things better.

It's not inherently impossible to have a life (in a society) not based on animal exploitation though. It's inherently impossible to have a life without causing any harm to anyone, but it's possible to not exploit others.

oh yeah, when I started my last post I totally meant to say this. But by the time I'd "finished" it, I'd forgotton.

i feel like that - i'm vegan but my parents aren't, and until i leave i come into contact daily with animal products. we have leather and feather beds in our house, and i can't really do a lot about replacing them..

i'm never sure whether i should sit on our (non-vegan) furniture, i usually end up doing so out of habit. obviously whenever i buy my own furniture in the future it would be vegan friendly
