Hello fellow veg*s, my dad and I are both Vegetarian, and we have both experienced since we both stopped eating meat 2 years ago a very big increase in our physical abilitys, I just wonted to know if any other none meat eaters out there have experienced any of my dad and my selfs enhanced abilitys since you stopped eating meat, abilities such as stamina, strength, speed, eyesight, hearing, sense of smell and enhanced taste buds.

This will show you how much each ability has been enhanced in my dad and I both since we stopped eating meat 2 years ago:

Stamina x 4,
strength x 2,
speed x 2 ,
eyesight x 2,
hearing x 4,
sense of smell x 5,
enhanced taste buds x 2.

I dont want to know if you think this is possible or not, I just want to know if there are any other none meat eaters out there that have experienced any of this since they stopped eating meat.

Not sure about the rest of it, but I think my sense of taste had wildly improved, and I suppose smell and taste are so closely connected that my sense of smell has changed also.

I feel better as a vegetarian -better rested and no more stomach problems - but I think it's because the switch in my diet improved my overall nutrient intake. I eat probably triple or quadruple the amount of fruits and vegetables daily that I ate before I switched...I really think that's what did it, or at least more so than the absence of meat.

Wow, that's fantastic that you feel such an improvement! Congratulations

Personally I didn't notice a huge increase in energy when I cut out meat, but I did definitely feel a lot better when I cut dairy out of my diet. I do think not eating meat helped my skin through high school though, I always had good skin when other kids were breaking out like crazy.

Yes, I could only bench 50 kg when I ate meat and somehow mysteriously I could bench 100 kg when I became a vegetarian.

'Lo Vegman,

At 51 I cannot say for sure that I have more energy/strength/better eyesight, or such, than if I hadn't been a vegan for so long. BUT!

I've noticed that my hearing and senses of smell and taste are more acute than they used to be and stronger than those of the omni people I know. I think I've gained some intelligence as well, I used to never do well in English classes, but, after returning to school to get a degree I've been getting straight A's in everything so far.

From vegetarian to vegan, I noticed I do not get sick like I used to. It was pretty common for me to get the flu about every other year, and during the winter have lots of sore throats and colds. Now I've been vegan since 2009 and have had only a sore throat once since then. I went from meat-eater to vegan about 4.5 years ago.

My sense of taste improves greatly. Pre-vegan, I thought avocados were totally flavorless, and twice I had tasted one plain before making a dip out of it. Yuk. Now, I think they have a rich flavor, and I regularly eat them plain - straight out of their hull with a spoon. That's just one example. I now have 8 different kinds of salt in my kitchen, because I can taste the difference and prefer a different salt with different foods.

I did notice increase in strength and stamina, until I got better at finding vegan junk food. Today, breakfast consisted of Tofutti sour cream made into an onion dip for potato chips. Krispy Kreme makes these wonderful accidentally vegan apple pies... mmmmm.... I love frying things and adding sugar. And all that added strength and stamina went right out the door.
