First, when I started the vegetarian style diet, as in no meat, I was just over 250 lbs, and took medications for cholesterol.
Today, just 5 months later I weighed it at 213, and no longer am on the medications.
I have more to lose to get to the 180 I want to see.
Having had two back surgeries in the past I was in pain most days. Now I cant remember the last time my back hurt (due to the weight I suspect) I ride the bike at least 50 miles a week now and have tons of energy.

Next change is mentally.
I started the veggie diet for health reasons, but I now find the look of raw meat a bit on the offensive side of things. The smell of cooked meat still gets to me sometimes, but its pretty easy to resist.

Im am currently in conversation on another forum with a bunch of cat lovers. dont get me wrong, I love cats just as much as...ok, I like them and tolerate them...
Anyway, they were all discussing their dinner plans for Easter, Turkey, ham, leg of lamb etc... so I decided to inquire as to where I could get some fresh cat to cook up for my inlaws. (yes, I was fishing for the comments)
It seems that if someone wants to kill a cat and eat it, they are sick and need help.. however, its perfectly ok to slaughter any other number of animals so you can sit down and finish off the corpse in a matter of minutes.

Im not totally done playing with them yet, but it will end with me posting the meet your meat video.
I think Im surrounded by hypocrites over there. The claim to be animal lovers, but limit that love to only 1 or 2 animals? Maybe I am stupid, I dont understand this anymore

anyone else want to come and play? it appears that I very well could be the only veggie on that forum.. Good times for all as I start to force them to admit that they are not the animal lovers they claim to be..

Oh, and I finally am able to eat tofu and actually enjoy it without the urge to purge it before it gets down.

Hi Fatman,

You are similar to me in the time frame thing, I reach my 6 months on around the 25th, which is 2 days time.... : )

As for the omnis on the board, I wouldnt get upset about them, think about it, they have received brainwashing about this from childhood and dont realise it. I myself was brainwashed up until last year. I think there are ways to let them know the truth, but be gentle with them.

Anyway, good to see that you have been enjoying the veggie diet... I am glad that you are seeing a reduction in health problems.

We've certainly had our disagreements over various political issues, but I think it's great what you've said on that other forum.

When it comes to treatment of animals.. ALL animals, not just the ones we think are cute enough to keep in the house, I will proudly stand side by side with you.

The other issues????? Maybe not so much. LOL

not interested in playing, but it's good that you brought that all up for them to think about. Also talk about what animals we consider as pets. Do people eat their gerbils, chinchillas, goldfish or sharks? What about pot bellied pigs that are house trained? Are they going to slaughter them and make bacon out of them?

There's a disparate notion that some animals are livestock and are property to do what we please with them, and some are pets for our pleasure. That goes back to the brainwashing that the Beef, dairy, poultry Counsils have "taught" us.

I was just reading that pigs have the intelligence of a 3 yr old child. They are smarter than dogs, but obviously don't have the same agility or speed. Turkeys are also very smart and some love to be petted and end up lap pets!

Go get 'em, and congrats on your improved health!

After letting them all vent, calling me sick, in need of help etc... I posted this

Quote:

Cool video. shows no mistreatment of cats. Evidently the only animal worth trying to treat properly...

And Im sick and in need of help for suggesting cat as a food source.

The difference please?

I look forward to the elevated status of the cat (including ferals) that gives them more right to live than animals that we or they think looks good next to mashed potatoes.

by the way, the video I linked to was Meat your Meet..

I used to eat fast food almost every day, drink pop every single day and I'd eat an entire 1 lb box of pasta for lunch, put 1/2 of a container of parmesan cheese and about a 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) of butter on it. Late at night, I'd eat an entire bag of tortilla chips, about 2 cups of salsa and maybe 1/2 a hunk of cheese. Not good

I still have the random craving for fast food sometimes, but although I just began my venture into vegetarianism, the last time I had a french fry, it tasted good for about 2 seconds and then I started getting shivers down my spine and felt sick, because I just wasn't used to the nastiness anymore

It's not an easy road to change your diet -- it takes a lot of discipline and self control. Awesome job!

Person who claims to be an animal lover, but also likes to talk about all the meat products that she will be consuming during various meals.

Quote:

What? you don't want us to eat YOU? Why not!

Look don't make me tell your wife about us. Then you will go from healthy eating to not getting ANY meals at all LOL

So I responded to her.

Quote:

You do understand that as far as telling my wife about us,, You really could never be my type. I do have standards, and I fear you don't measure up to them. sorry, don't take it personal.
I just simply cannot stand anyone as hypocritical as you prove yourself to be.
So, go save some disease ridden cat and claim yourself to be an animal lover while you chow down on that burger that came from the seriously mistreated cow.

I'm not saying you hold no attraction to me but, if you were the only woman left on earth, I might actually have to think hard about becoming gay.
On a side note, maybe you should try to get a job at the local morgue, you could save tons on money on your food bill. Rotting Flesh is Rotting Flesh, really does not matter where it comes from. Shave off a rump roast and nobody will notice if you prop them up with a book or something.

So far no mention of the video I posted.

Good job, Fatman. You certainly confuse me at times with some of your posts, but I like what you are doing on that cat forum.

its not a cat forum, its a local community forum, but there are a few holier than everyone else people that claim to be animal lovers, yet discuss the carnage they plan to eat.
They irritate me.

Much like I irritate others when discussing change to current social standards. But, Im not a hypocrit about it,, at least I dont think I am.

somd.com is the site in question. ( I also get abused on there for my gay opinions,, or is that opinions on gays.. whatever, if we aint fighting we aint having fun)
