Do any countries operate on a 4 day business/work week??? If so then I am moving.

Monday through Friday is simply too long of a week and a 2 day weekend just flies by. Wouldn't a longer weekend help boost the economy? People would travel more (which would mean spending more money) and people would most likely do more shopping and spending on the weekend if they had more time to get out. I would gladly work longer days 4 days a week if it meant having an extra day off. Anyone with me?

most american companies do not give people 3 weeks off. generally you get one week paid after your first year and then as the years go by you get another add. i guess if you work for a company long enough you will get 3 and more weeks vacation. but most americans do not have paid vacation time and or health benefits.

i went to a high school that followed a 4 day week. no school on fridays. we also only went from 8:15 am til 1:45pm with a one hour lunch break and 10 min passing periods.. it was cool, so most of us had jobs.

Oh my gosh that would be great .. and I too would be willing to work (4) 10 hour days in order to have Fridays off. I never have enough time to do all I want to on the weekends damnit!

My company just recently started having us come in at 7:30 am instead of 8 am so we can come in at 8 am and leave at 3 pm on Fridays.. so that's a start in the right direction I guess.

I would love to be able to work 4 ten-hour days and have an extra day in the weekend! Actually, my company will arrange that sort of thing if the supervisor approves it. Flextime is a wonderful thing - I can come in any time and leave any time as long as I'm here between 10 AM and 2 PM, and I put in 8 hours a day. I also get decent paid vacation time, 10 paid sick days/year, a fairly good medical/dental plan, and the option to buy up to 5 additional vacation days from the company. Oh, and we get a paid holiday from Dec. 24-Jan. 2 every winter.

I know that a company called BAE Systems gives all workers every other Friday off. They work an extra 45 minutes a day the other days to make up for it. They use this as a big recruiting selling tool.

I am one of those people. I work 4 days a week 10 hour shift, then I have 3 days off in a row. I live in California...

I've heard Sweden is an awesome place to be an employer. It's such a socialist country. Most companies have resorts that they send their employees and their families to for the a couple of weeks in the summer. Parental leave is 15 months too. My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Sweden!

I suppose it pays better then ?

Me: 24 hours a week

4 weeks off a year

Holiday money (8% of year income)

They pay a part of my health insurance and I pay something like $30 a month my self.

When I have to go to the doctor or dentist and I cannot make an apointment outside my working hours : paid. (I don't have to take hours off for that)

Normal hours between 8 pm and 5 am. Outside that: more money per hour.

Travell expenses: I go to work on my bicycle and they pay $65 a month for that. (That's what you get no matter how you go to work)
