Hi everyone,<br><br>
I'm soon to have some friends over for dinner, and I really want to impress them with some great vegan food. The thing is that I'm not sure how to put together a 3 course menu, so that everything goes well together. I'm a pretty decent cook, but usually I make very simple food for myself, so I'm low on ideas of fancy recipes. None of my friends are vegan and they are a little skeptical about it, so I wanna to show them that vegan food can be beautiful and delicious. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

If it were me, I would do an asian theme <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> they're so easy to do. Start with a miso soup, followed by some vegan california rolls, some dumplings with dipping sauce, maybe some almond crusted tofu...and finish with those lovely peanut butter flake pastries <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> (not sure if these are possible vegan? Never tried...might be a good experiment)<br><br>
If these sound good I can help look up recipes.

Yes thanks! Its sounds perfect, I'm also used to making Asian food so it'll be easier for me too. If you have any links or anything, I would love to take a look

The key to making and serving a 3 course meal is preparation and timing. you don't want to be slaving in the kitchen hurrying around while your guests are there, most of the food should be prepared ahead of time or almost ready to go.<br><br>
Asian is great, you can make sushi ahead of time, prepare dumplings to be steamed ahead of time etc.<br><br>
another option is italian, its versatile, familiar to omni's and can be done with ease for a 3 course meal. maybe something like a bruschetta appetizer with a side salad, veggie lasagna or baked pasta dish main course, and granita for dessert. granita is a kind of icee frozen fruit dessert, really easy to make with pretty much any fruit in season.

I wouldn't try anything on other people, especially non-vegans, that I wasn't familiar with making and thought was really good. A lot of recipes sound good on paper, but don't taste like much. I'd go with what I know.<br><br>
I like the ideas about the nori rolls and rice paper rolls, and having different types of dipping sauces. It would be easy to create a variety of combos, then people would gravitate towards the flavors they liked.<br><br>
My personal favorite on nori roll filling is poached tempeh, which is mashed and combined with Sriracha (hot sauce) and Vegenaise (vegan mayonnaise). I also like avocado, red pepper and cucumber for the different textures.
