Hello,
My name is Lindsey. I'm 21 and I live in Cape Town, South Africa.

I decided to go vegetarian on 1 June 2011 and I've been off meat ever since then. I feel good and this has been a good experience so far. The only challenge hsa been people's reactions and silly questions.

I went off meat for health and ethical reasons. I haven't had any bad "side-effects" like so many people said I would. One girl asked me "Aren't you getting headaches or tummy aches?" And I say no, of course. In fact, for the past month and a half I have had 1 headache. I used to get 1 per week. No upset stomach either.

One of the benefits is digestion. I spend 4 minutes max in the bathroom no matter what I'm doing.
I know that last part was probably gross, sorry... I laugh at the "get more fibre" adverts now.

I blog about my new life style now. It's fun.

I hope I meet some new vegetarians on here.

Hey, congrats on going veg! I'm glad you're experiencing such positive health benefits from it. It would be awful to get headaches so frequently.

Hi Lindsey. Way to go!

When I went veg I found it took a while, maybe three years, for my body to completely adjust to my new food habits. Then it became totally effortless.

However, so many good things happened straight away. Eating meat I used to pretty regularly get stomach aches and other digestive problems after meals. As soon as I went veg that went away 100%.

A good way to transition, I think, is to regularly reward yourself with the many awesome veggie food treats out there. Make it fun.

Good luck!

Hey there Lindsey, welcome welcome! So nice that you're eating veggies! It took me a couple of years to transition to fully vegetarian, but now I never even think about an alternative.. just a part of my life now. Hope you remain happy eating a vegetarian diet. I know there are a lot of us who are willing to help you if you have any questions. Peace - see you on the boards!
