GhostUser very mature of you to think of others.

holly golightly well all, thx for your advise. i've opted not to go. the other meanies i dont care about but as far as the x is concerned, there are not any hard feelings so i wouldnt want to spite him or anything. he just didnt want me there since he's still a bit hurt and upset at me that we didnt work out. he still needs to have a nice time and my presence would prolly diminish that. more importantly it frees up my evening for a pint of tofutti and old movies

Michael I'm all for being spiteful but I'd take the opposite approach. I wouldn't go and I'd make sure that everyone who wants you there knows why you're not going. That way they can act pissy toward the people who caused you not to go.

Stay away. You should always go with your instincts on this type of thing. Just meet these people for dinner the night before or after or something.

Kurmudgeon If you go, and enjoy yourself, it could be like a big F you to those others. Especially if they are "not going to want" you there. Being spiteful to others that way is always pleasing.

Skylark If it's spending time with b-day boy that you want, you could do that at another time. I think it might be better for you to stay away from the party, but you can certainly indulge in some other fun activity at that time to help yourself feel better.

GhostUser i dont. i think stuff would get ****ty from what you told me. alcohol and pepole with repressed feelings aint a good mix.

muppetcow Go and make b-day boy feel good. If things get ugly, you can always just leave.

skarrlett Just go. Have a good time. You can't avoid people forever. Some people are jerks.. Go and have a good time with your friends.

holly golightly okay ive been invited to this party by some ol friends. unfortunately some of the people there are not going to want me there, one being my X and friends, and another a "friend" (and his sister) who i had to eventually tell to bugger off b/c he was a liar. Plus one of my own girlfriends does not think i should go she wont even go with me there b/c people might think "she brought me!" well so naturally i declined due to feeling awkward but then the rest of the gang, including b-day boy, whom i love and hardly ever see altogether anymore, really want me to go and keep pestering me (in a sweet, good way) to go. I also really want to but do not want to put myself in an awkward predicament. so my question is, am i making to big a deal out of this and should i still attend as everyone will be too drunk and happy to care? or should i stay home and *gasp* study.
