when we were kids we used to eat sugar sandwiches and cocoa and sugar mixed in a cup Sherbet mixed in water for a fizzy drink eat ice cubes when we'd run out of money for drink orange squash coloured water(very weak orange juice) Cups of snow Brown sauce on toast Jam crackers |

I was just thinking about this thread! One of my favorites. Ghetto BLT: Mix together lettuce strips, Bacos, and mayo. Spread btw two pieces of bread. Eff the tomato, no time for that fancy fresh produce stuff (lettuce should be the bagged iceberg stuff that's been marked down to a dollar) Ghetto chili: Crush TVP into powder, mix with ketchup, steak sauce, garlic powder, and Taco Bell fire sauce. Add water and simmer till TVP is plump, adding more water if necessary. |

I recently moved in with my boyfriend who likes to buy food, leave it in the fridge, eat takeout and then throw away the food he bought when it expires. The other day I was going through the fridge an my options were limited to many delicious item that would have made great meals had I only gotten to them 2 weeks prior. The unexpired food was bread, butter and shredded 'italian' cheese. So I didn't have to think too hard to toast the bread, swipe on some butter, sprinkle a little garlic powder and then the cheese, pop it in the toaster oven and viola! I had me some delicious cheesy garlic toast. I've eaten it like 5 times in the past 3 days. That can't been too healthy but boyfriend loves it too which is fun cus I don't get to cook for the omnivore at all. But this makes it look like I'm cooking. |

Can't beat good ole beans on toast. I just ate this earlier and it is great Take two slices of wholemeal bread and bung them in a toaster. Whilst they are toasting, empty a tin of beans into a saucepan and heat over a moderate flame on a stove. When the toast is done, place the slices on a plate and leave them to cool for a minute or two. Reduce the heat on the beans. When the toast has cooled, spread both slices with your favourite dairy free spread. Cut the two slices diagonally and arrange the pieces of toast around the edge of the plate in a circle. My grandmorther used to make this soup for us--she used chicken broth but at other times if she didnt have any she would just use wat. But here goes--water, salt pepper -bring to boil-thicken with meal. she called it gruel. It wasnt bad actually. Oh--if you want to get racy-add margerine. |
