I like VB because I am guaranteed that I'll be able to laugh at someone (and sometimes more then one person!) on a daily basis. And, if I'm very lucky, Tame will post something snide. I don't like how people are discrediting my omnism by calling me the "fake omni", "not a real omni" and "flexatarian." These are hurtful words, demeaning my omnism and I want more respect from you people. |

I also have found that VB filled a painful void in my life, as vitually all my acquaintences and family are omni. How wonderful that there is a place where like-minded people "understand" - have similar angers, frustrations, needs and joys. I had been veg*n for several other periods in my life, and I am ashamed to admit, went back to meat eating. In large part I attribute this to the difficulties of treading a path alone and feeling isolated -- but this is true no longer. I am so happy that August 25 will mark my 2-year anniversary.  Must also echo other's sentiments that I feel welcome inspite of the fact that I am currently following the ovo-lacto route. Although I gave away or sold (& gave the money to a local shelter) all of my leather products quite some time ago, buying only cruelty free, I know that I have a ways to go. With the help of the good people here, I feel that there's no limit to what I can do. Only occasionally I must admit that it's just a tad strange, being one of the seemingly few older posters, as I'm 51 with 3 grown children. But then I've always been a bit of an individualist.  none of you guys would find me fun in real life, im very monosyllabic and dont show much emotion. just sorta blank. but when i get excited..im more excited than chicks on speed! VB lets me atleast speak and express. the only place i do that in real life is in classroom debates and at shows. so i thank VB for that outlet! and for those of you who dont know, my friends call me monosyllabic because of this song :Monosylabic Girl by NOFX I take her to the aquarium, she says shark I take her to the planetarium, she says dark I take her to the seaside Where she likes to spin and twirl She says sure and cool and yeah She's my monosylabic girl I take her to the university, she says huh I take her to anniversary, she says one I take her to jewelry store I say diamonds, she says pearl Oh everyone knows I'm in love and yeah With a monosylabic girl so VB allows me to be a little more than monosyllabic. plus everyone is so fscking happy on VB, its not like we ***** and moan and whine about everything all the time, if VB was a person they would glow bright yellow! |

VB is the bombdiggtyfonchinznay! but why cant i meet any of you in real life?! its like all the cool people at shows. WHY DONT YOU EXIST IN REAL LIFE?!? where do you live?! why dont i ever see you!? it seems like i can never find another vegan. or even vegetarian, all the ones ive met just love their chicken and fish. i joined VB after the vegetarianteens.com board got kabooted over here, after about 4 months of being vegan. YEP im a newbie, been around vb for 2 months, because i remeber you guys were the only ones that remebered my birthday.  thanks. i lovvve all of you!my favorites..yes i do have my favorites..and you shall reap the benefits one day, my favorite VBs! hahaha i love all of you. |

The support that I have always received here has always meant the world to me... You are an amazing (and quite varied) group of people; never change! (It doesn't hurt that I met one of my very best friends on the boards... It will always have that going for it if all else fails.  )

That's great revel.  The longer I'm here, the more I like this place. I've talked to some great people here, and got some great ideas. At the beginning of next month I'll be starting my way towards veganism, and I can truly say I'm excited because I know I can come here and get support, get some recipes, and have a good laugh.

I joined vb about a month after becoming a vegetarian. I have to fully admit that I don't think I would have made it at times if it weren't for these boards. The people here were completely amazing to me and helped me answer a lot of questions about being veg*n. They gave me plenty of ideas about quick and easy veg-friendly meals. More importantly, they gave me a bunch of love and support that I didn't get from most of my omni friends. BTW...5 months now and still going strong!!!! Thanks everybody! Oh, and Michael is brilliant. |
