It is oftentimes people who have no other options. Low-income, minorities, oftentimes immigrants (many undocumented). There are many health and safety concerns for workers. Not to mention it is probably traumatic to have to work in a place like that.

|unovegan2||No, they are not. at least, many are not. Never underestimate the power of denial, ignorance and other negative traits that people tend to use on a regular basis. The true definition of a sociopath/psychopath doesn't match the criteria.|

If you've known or read about factory farm conditions you'd realize there is no room for enjoyment. It's a last resort job, usually in rural areas where transportation is scarce. the workers endure the same smells, filth, as the animals do, and while you say they can get out to breath fresh air, they're also trapped there to make some form of living.
We've had people here who've worked in those places. Not everyone has the chance to leave, and succumbs to the conditions.
I realize there are those who enjoy torture, but there are also pediphiles who teach elementarty school, and human trafficers who work in domestic violence shelters

Well we have to remember that fpr them it is probably a job and if another job was available with the same benefits and pay, there is an option they would take.

No. Psychopathy is an extremely specific mental pathology (in the family of personality disorders) characterized by certain personality traits and behaviors, so enjoying animal (or human) slaughter (I doubt all slaughterhouse people enjoy killing), does not automatically make someone a psychopath, just as being clean does not automatically make someone have OCD.
Besides, Psychopathy is more or less defined by doing things that society considers immoral. Killing animals hardly fits under that definition (meaning the people who DO think it's immoral are in the minority).
A better place to find a psychopath would be somewhere in the higher corporate world, as it takes a degree of... amorality... to perform well in that rather brutal field.

|Muttley||im sure there are some creeps working in factory farms and processing plants, but that could be said about literally ANY field. work in any company with a few hundred plus people and you will get a good cross section of society and find there are some people you wouldn't want to be alone with for more than a few minutes! Some people just need a job to support themselves or families and maybe those jobs are easy to get into if you can stomach it and shut your brain off for 8+hrs a day, just as im sure there are plenty of seemingly normal people who it just doesn't bother too much. I have a few friends who are butchers and get in what is basically half of a cow, pig etc, and as people, they are as normal as the next, it just happens to not bother them. I don't think I would last long in a butcher shop, or any longer at a funeral home/ morgue, dentist office, working with kids, barber, assisted living/ hospice type places, even food service...basically any place that includes servicing people as i'm just not very comfortable touching/ being close to people who im not familiar with. some people love being around kids or cutting hair, but what bothers one person doesn't necessarily bother everyone.|

Are peope who work with animal cruelty psychopats?
Sorry, I don't know if this is the right part of forum to post in.
It is a well known fact that the worst serial killers and psychopats started out when they was young to enjoy(?!) etc. rip legs of insects and torture small animals for fun (hey, child psychiatrists, where are you, we need you??!!) and then proceeded to bigger animals when they became older. We all know about all the cruelty that has been used on people, luckily it is illegal these days even if it is still happens. But if it would be exposed, many people would react.
Torture, concentration camps are legal today, and no one cares. They are called slaughter houses where you use the same torture methods that has been used previously on humans in history. Beating, electric schocks, experiments and all torture methods. And someone is doing it...
The psychopath knows that if he or she torture a human, they will end up in jail. But animals... I think, "working" on a slaughter house must be a dream job for a cold psychopath. There, they can torture and watch living creatures suffer to death meanwhile they smile thinking of the fact they won't end up in jail. When there is videos that has leaked out from places like this, I have seen people laughing meanwhile they torture animals.
Is there any study in this area? If you think of it, it isn't that hard to believe and I would neither be surprised if it was revealed that people working in slaughter houses are psychopats.
