Meo | I'm in a school with overzealous boy-crazy girls. Valentine's day is the day from Hell, to me, when I have to be around them. It is a good excuse to get candy, though, which is a plus. |

Valentine's Day was created to help store owners recover from the Christmas lull in sales that happens between Jan 26 and easter. I refuse to support that part of it. Now, I do always cook something for the day. But, that doesn't say a whole lot, because I've used martin Lurther king jr day and American thanksgiving as excuses to make huge, fancy meals (btw, I'm Canadian) ![]() |

Tommy Gun | V3gan, I was saying that if anyone cared, they could read the other thread. It wasn't because I was lazy or something. |

Tommy Gun | I already answered in the other V-Day thread, so I'm not gonna repeat it here. |

I picked the last one, cause this year I actually have someone to spend it with ![]() I agree that it's way too commercialised, that's why I'm giving my bf some flowers picked out of my garden as well as the gift I bought him, and I also made a home-made card. It's the thought that counts, not how much you spend in my opinion ![]() |

muppetcow | I think it's overcommercialized crap, but I also look forward to spending time with my sweetie. Then again, I always look forward to spending time with my sweetie. So, yes, I did something nice for my sweetie, but I really don't care if he gets me a gift or something in return b/c he's awesome all the time. |

It's mostly commercialized crap, but it is a good excuse to eat expensive chocolates and drink pink champagne. I think V-day is a conspiracy to make the single people feel bad about being single. |

Christy | I could take it or leave it. We try to do nice things for each other throughout the year, so we don't really do anything special for V day. There may be some flowers, chocolates, and nekkid time involved, though. |

It think it's crap. It's just another stupid Hallmark Holiday. There shouldn't need to be a reason to do something nice for someone. Flowers? Candy? Stuffed Animals? Ooh.. how creative and original. ![]() |

I voted and I care because? not just to be cynical but because I'm totally spoilt by my SO the whole year through so I don't usually think about valentines day that much. I totally forgot about it until someone at work asked me what I would be doing. But now that I've been reminded, I still wont be buying into that over-commercialized love crap ![]() |

CaptainSwab | Even though I am getting married on Valentines day, we don't usually celebrate it at all. I think its kinda superfical and cheesy. The only reason I agreed to get married on this day is because its my grandparents 50th wedding anniversiry. |

I voted the first answer because I guess it fits best, although I wouldn't say I hate it. It's just that I am always so single! And I always end up having to babysit my siblings while my mom goes out with my stepdad who I don't really like for some "surprise" that she already knew about anyway, and was dreading because he always thinks of crap things to do with her. This year it is his work Christmas party which she didn't want to go to anyway and told him so, but he is making it out to be her surprise vday getaway. Go figure! But it doesn't make it a very happy holiday. ONE year there was a someone special (or on the verge of something at least) but I was sick with a killer flu, coughing, vomiting, couldn't talk or move basically, with a temp of about 103 degrees F. That wasn't my favorite day either. Sorry to be such a party pooper, but Valentine's day just doesn't ever bring me good feelings! |

I don't really know what to put.. Personally I treat it as just any other day.. But I guess I do go out of my way to be nicer on it.. Just like everyother gift-giving holiday, I think it's become way too commercialized. And I'm fully not into that part. But I think the idea of it can be really sweet! Like I plan on picking my friend some flowers tomorrow! I think it's like anything, it's the thought that counts. You can spend $1000000 on something if you can afford it, but a simple flower, or even smile.. could mean more than the the expensive gift, as the thoughts there. I guess it's good since it makes more people be all "lovey".. and happy.. And I'm a strong supporter of HAPPINESS! YAY! But some people get really bitter about it, which I think is very uncalled for. If it's not your cup of tea, you don't need to knock it for others. Yeah I guess people could give flowers or whatever any other day.. Well.. Why don't they as well? There isn't a limit of days in the year when you can give you SO or good-friends gifts, or messages of love. The more love the better the world will be, but I don't really see Valentines day as a huge embassedor for love... But yeah, even if it makes one person more loving, for just one day.. then it's fully worth it! |

I like it -- it's nice to have a day to celebrate your family and friends. I know it's commercial, but I don't care. It's fun, and I look forward to it every year (even if I'm solo - - I send those little mini valentines to all my friends) ![]() |
