Damn that looks good!!! Just a couple of Australia sites I've found that sell something similar... whether it's a beef jerkey substitute (another fave) or like the original twiggy stick... may be our best options here?

Oh, those look cool. I don't think they are available in Australia though. |

are they like "slim jims"? if so the tofurkey makes a good "primal stick". |

Hi, actually I never got around to it and had totally forgotten about it until you reminded me. |

Hi there,
I'm wondering whether you tried this, and whether it worked? Twiggy sticks use to be something I loved as a carnivore, but now I've gone vegetarian, looking at options for my previous fave foods :) |

I'm toying with the idea of making a seitan version of twiggy sticks. I plan to use vegan dad's sausage recipe. http://vegandad.blogspot.com/2008/03...-sausages.html spice it up with chilli flakes and pepper, perhaps adding extra oil to the recipe and cutting down on the other liquid a bit. Roll them small and overcook a little so they have that chewy cardboard consistancy. Do you think this has the potential to work? I'm a bit worried the oil might leech out a bit during cooking. Are there any additional spices you would recommend or any I should leave out? I have liquid smoke in hickory, mesquite, apple and pecan flavours. ![]() |
