Quincy I haven't seen much action on here, but there are other vegan-friendly places.

West Hartford has two Chinese/Asian restaurants that have vegan options. Black Bamboo is one and China Pan (may technically be just over the Farmington line) has a very extensive menu.

Fire and Spice in Hartford features Jamaican soul food that's entirely vegan.

New Haven has several places. Tikkaway is Indian fast food (think Chipotle) and they have many vegan options. ION in Middletown recently renovated and moved a few blocks up Main Street. I think they're even better now than at the old location!

Here's a list of my favorite vegan-friendly places around Connecticut. It also includes bakeries and more:

First of all, in Mystic, CT (home of the Seaport/Aquarium/Mystic Pizza) we have;

Rice, Spice, Noodle

Thai place that is Vegan friendly

Drunken noodles are awesome, check it out at lunch for the same dishes, only cheaper

Pita Spot

Falafel hut that is Vegan friendly

Very helpful in making most of their dishes to meet your needs, everything made fresh daily

Peking Tokyo

Chinese/Japanese fusion joint with an entirely veg*n friendly menu

Even vegan sushi OPTIONS, not just one

Pizzetta

You can get any pizza with Daiya cheese or Gardein crispy chicken FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST (Crazy)

Go on a Tuesday night for a bottle of wine/four case of beer and a specialty pizza for $20

I know a lot of people come through Noank to go to Abbott's Lobster in the Rough... But that is literally a vegan's worst nightmare.

Instead, just walk a block up the street to the Noank Community Market

They have a vegan specialty wrap everyday, vegan pizzas, vegan grinders, premade vegan soups/salads/entrees

They even have VEGAN CUPCAKES AND MUFFINS

I know it isn't as nuts to people living near New Haven, but for those of us halfway between there and Providence, we take what we can get!

Thanks for this. I'm in that area a lot, and I so know what you mean about Abbott's Lobster... When I meet up with friends in that area, it's their favorite place to go and I just groan because I know I will leave hungry if I don't eat beforehand.

feralheart Red Lentil is in New Haven. I think its pretty good but a little expensive. There's also mamouns in new haven. I think they have the best baba ghannoush ever and its been my life's work trying to get mine as good.

It's Only Natural Restaurant in Middletown CT.

(Their market is also across the street)

You must try their sweet potato fries and sweet potato enchilada! They are kinda pricey but, their food never disappoints.

The Red Lentil in Hartford CT.

I haven't been yet, but, I looked at their menu online and it seems like they have a lot of variety! Planning on going for my birthday Friday :)

karenlovessnow I've been to the Shoreline Diner and Vegetarian Enclave twice in the past month. They have expanded their vegan options and at the risk of repeating myself, the vegan Napoleon dessert is delicious!

Rawrr Red Lentil in New Haven has a mean Daiya cheez pizza and carrot cake on the menu. The tofu's extremely unimpressive. Smoothies are on the expensive for 3 sips side... But, they're an option.

Oh, most definitely. Horizons was more high-end stuff and pricier as well. This felt like a really good home-cooked meal, and it was pretty tasty. The beans were flavorful and there was hot sauce on the table! Plus, they gave me a quart of water, lol. It probably helps not having to refill water glasses so often . I thought the staff was very pleasant and attentive as well. I'm probably going to go back next week . I want to try the southern fried tofu.

At ION, I had a sweet potato enchilada and rice and beans. I tried their velvet cake for dessert and it was a bit dry, but the flavor and the frosting made up for it. I definitely will go there again, though. Many meals to try out . The cool thing is they have vegan cheeses as well as dairy cheeses, so just about every meal can be made vegan.

Oh, and New Britain isn't far from Middletown at all. Maybe a 20-minute drive down Route 9

I thought it was good but it could be because it was my first experience ever eating at a real vegetarian restaurant...I was bound to love it, lol. I remember having the Southern Fried Tofu, which was awesome...even my kids liked it. The veggie burger was good, too. I remember being disappointed in the carrot cake and coconut cake...they were kind of dry. Keep in mind it's been at least two years since I've been there.

Dazjae I'm located in New Britain and have spoken to several local business owners about stocking vegan products. I wonder if we all begin to work on this and than list participating businesses online will it increase vegan options across the state? New York, LA, and even DC have good options, but CT has a ways to go.

List restaurants you know that carry even something as simple as soy milk so locals in your town know where they can have coffee *_^

I'll update in the top post when there are replies.

You can also see about having them listed in

Greenpeople.com's directory.

Shine on

Businesses stocking vegan options in CT:

Tea and Leaves

59 West Main street New Britain

Now carrying Soy creamer ^_^

The Underground Deli in the CCSU eateries, New Britain

Expressed interest in stocking vegan deli options.

He's been made aware of Vegenaise, and other vegan delights.

The more business that comes through the more he'll likely stock.

No longer available:

FruttiKrem on Arch street (New Britain) did agree to stock Vegenaise, Follow Your Heart cheez and Soy powdered creamer, but there wasn't enough business, and she closed down over the summer
