belledozer I've just found by accident reading one of the local papers a bakery in Richmond that not only makes regular cupcakes but VEGAN ones too!!! The name of it is Bell's Bake Shop, and their website is: www.bellsbakeshop.com. I fully intend to check it out next week.

Hey there! Welcome to Veggieboards and to Vancouver!

Here's a nice blog post I like that covers a lot of the delicious places to eat here: http://vegansaurus.com/post/3566149560

And for food on campus: http://blogs.ubc.ca/healthyminds/201...ats-on-campus/

As for animal welfare groups there are two that come to mind immediately.

The first is Stop UBC Animal Research: http://stopubcanimalresearch.org/

And the second is Liberation BC: http://liberationbc.org/

Both are filled with pretty amazing people. Hope that helps!

theLaika HAY, my name is Chris - I'm a 22 year old living in my new city of Vancouver (UBC area to be precise.) I'm loving how friendly everybody is. I've had so many conversations with complete strangers - not like it is in the U.K.!

Potluck sounds like awesome - I've never been to one but I love cooking.

Anyway, just to say hi to the pretty people of the B.C. V.B.

paisleyjane HEY! I just tried that new stir fry restaurant that opened up on Terminal Ave in Nanaimo. It's called Island Stir Fry. It was AWESOME!!
It's like a salad bar, but you choose noodles and/or rice, then fill up a big bowl with tofu and countless varieties of veggies. Then you choose a sauce (most are vegan!) and they grill it up right in front of you!

It was delicious, made to order, healthful, fast, and inexpensive!! My boyfriend and I BOTH ate (until we were STUFFED) for only $8.95 each!!

If you live in Nanaimo or visit often, CHECK. IT. OUT!!

PurplyVeg Hey, My name is Andrea, I live in the Courtenay/Comox area on Vancouver Island, I also travel alot to Nanaimo to visit family. I would love to meet other Vegans. We have a great Vegan potluck here in Courtenay every Wednesday night at 6pm, at a local juice bar, if anyone is interested let me know!

Eek Does anyone here know of a Vancouver / Lower mainland location to purchase gallon jugs of Dr Bonners liquid soap? and if so, how much are they?

LadyRose Thanks Paisley- I'll have to add Kasira's and Armani's! I sent you a message on FB (could you see how excited I was to find another veggie? )

paisleyjane Hey!!

I'm so happy to see so much activity here on the BC board!! LadyRose, my boyfriend and I are both vegan and in Nanaimo. We live on Prideaux Street.

I LOVE your list. I visit all those places regularly. Thirsty Camel, Green Store, love 'em!

Have you tried Armani's Grill?? My friend who is also vegan works there, and the owner/manager is super conscious of veganism. Almost anything on the menu can be made vegan. Burgers, stirfrys, curries, you name it. It's great! I also LOVE Kasira Thai over by Superstore. They have lots of fabulous vegan options. YUM!!

We were just in Victoria last weekend and we tried Dayia cheese on a pizza from The Joint. OHMYGAWD It was un-be-lieveable.

Anyways... I do some stuff sorta activisty stuff occasionally, and I like to have vegan potlucks on occasion. If you're interested in meeting other Nanaimo vegans shoot me a message and I'll invite you to the next potluck!! You can add me of Facebook if you'd like, it's www.facebook.com/heather.roxanne

LadyRose That's precisely it Abbey! You might not be able to make everything perfect, but that doesn't mean you should start eating six pounds of beef everyday, smoke meth, quit your job to go get drunk, leave the sprinklers on for two weeks, and throw yourself off a building because- oh my!- I stepped on a bug on the grass today- Let's give it all up and stop trying.

You know... A little bit of effort just makes a big difference.

Exactly. I've had people tell me that I should go ahead and eat meat because bugs get killed during crop harvests. Right. So because I can only prevent some animal deaths by being vegan, I should just give it up and cause more animal deaths! Hey, while I'm at it, I sometimes take long showers, which ends up wasting water (I'm working on it). So since I waste water sometimes in the shower, maybe I should just keep all my taps running all day! After all, I can't prevent ALL water wastage, so why bother trying??

LadyRose Thanks for the advice Abbey. I'm pretty broke right now, but I'm still thinking about those marshmellows.

You mean the Sweet and Sara marshmallows? YES, I love them! I order them WAY too often! They are literally indistinguishable from regular marshmallows, except for the square shape. They are so good! Now I need to order more

Oh and I never order them with a cold pack, even though it's recommended. I've never had any trouble with them melting en route or anything.

Btw, Affadavit, I got a message back from Naked Naturels. They too carry vegan multivitmains! Now I got lots of choices! Thanks again for your help.

No problem! But if you order Daiya cheese, make sure to order lots. I got 2 bags of cheddar and 2 of mozzarella, and I wish I had gotten 5 bags of each!

LadyRose I found out Thrifty's carries Sisu vitamins! I always shopped at the downtown location, and they didn't carry any vitamins down there so I just thought Thrifty's didn't sell that stuff. But yesterday I went to the Longwood station and, wonder of wonders, they carry a huge selection of vitamins! And the Sisu ones are only 20bucks, they come in veg caps, and they have D2 not D3. Yay! I guess it's kind of like Save-On and their spices. The one nearby at Terminal has like noo selection, but if you go to the Woodgrove one they have a huge bulk section for spices.

But thank-you Abbey. It's great to know they take money orders. It's still worth having a boo, see what other brands are out there.

You guys have been very helpful.

Abbey- You are quite right. My health food stores stock all-natural vegetarian multivitamins (they have only one brand at both different health-food stores), but it contains D3 (which I realised after I bought it, goddamn it, and I'm not relishing the idea of eating wool!). I will check out Vivagranola. I was going to look online but wanted to see first if there were any stores not too far from me. I don't have a credit card so I will have to apply for one first, I think, before ordering online. But now I know where to look Internet-wise.

VivaGranola also accepts Paypal and Canadian money orders!
