Rebeka | It also works to just freeze a peeled banana! Good with peanut butter.

Naturebound | I always keep a freezer bag of banana slices on hand. I like to use them not only for banana ice cream, but smoothies and sometimes I just eat them frozen (slightly thawed) as is with a glass of almond milk.

veganziggy | I seriously recommend peeling and chopping the bananas first as it can be a bit of a battle to do this when frozen. Also i found that overly ripe bananas work best

ocrob37 | I always have frozen bananas in the freezer. They are so good in smoothies. I recently saw a great looking recipe for vegan banana bread as well.

penny79 | It's called a banana whip and doesn't need sweetener as long as you use ripe bananas.

Yes it works. I put clingfilm over bowl and cut a hole for the blender incase of any bits trying to escape. Its a bit if work to get it all blended, but worth it. YUM! |

GhostUser | The plain bananas are really good this way but if you add a little almond butter, cocoa powder, agave syrup and a splash of coconut or almond milk, it's spectacular. Add just enough of the liquid to make it the consistency of soft serve.

I want to try that too, but can't afford to buy anything bigger than a handblender. So please inform me on how it turned out! ![]() |

It will work with mangos. I puree, then freeze in cups, then let them thaw out a bit before serving. Tastes like sorbet. |

There is a recipe there for avocado as well, but it uses more ingredients. Someone on the page suggested serving it in citrus bowls: http://donkeehouse.com/?p=1439 I think this is a fantastic idea.. I can't wait to run to the store and buy some bananas and oranges! |

What the what now? |
Sorry if anyone else posted this, but I was intrigued when I saw this post. I live in a rural area so we don't really have many vegetarian or vegan ready made foods (or stores that sell them), so specialty stuff like vegan ice cream isn't available. This is an ice cream made from frozen bananas! I think I'm going to give this a try with a scoop or two of peanut butter. http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/t...e-cream-097170 |
