My parents both grew up in Norwalk! I hear bloodroot has fabulous bread, but I haven't been there myself, I've been meaning to. The Lime has some pretty good stuff, express your concern to the waitress and I'm sure they'll make sure there's no cross contamination. You should check out The Stand if you haven't yet. It's over by Garden Cinema and it's a bit pricey but they have really fresh food. I don't know of any veg groups but let me know if you find anything! |

I know this is an old CT thread but i thought i'd give it a polite bump. I'm in Norwalk and hopefully moving with the fam to New Haven area this fall. We have a little one who will be vegetarian also. I have never been to bloodroot in Bridgeport so have no idea what its like.. i'm considering taking the hubby there for lunch this Sunday but i've heard terrible things.... also good things but i'm torn. I really wasnt impressed with Claires in New Haven, thought the food was terrible. Maybe I just got a bad dish. I nearly ordered from Lime (Norwalk) the other night when I was being lazy, but also worried about cross contamination. Does anybody know of any vege groups? All my friends (and family) are huge meat eaters. |

Hi, I live in South Eastern Connecticut. There is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant in downtown New London called Mangetout. I have not been yet, but I've been meaning to. They update their menu on the web daily. It sounds yummy! www.mangetoutorganic.com |

I've eaten at the Lime a few years back, but I didn't know they won an award for best vegetarian restaurant, that's strange. Perhaps they did win because of lack of competition, the only vegetarian restaurant I know of in Norwalk is the Stand but it's tiny and mainly serves breakfast, lunch and salads. Babyfirefly- I've eaten falafel somewhere in Danbury, I can't remember the name of it, though. The best falafel I've had is Layla's falafel in Fairfield. I go there when ever I can. |

blossomgirlNC | I was wondering what thoughts are about the Lime Restaurant in Norwalk which has won The Advocate's Best Vegetarian Restaurant from 1999-2008... I went to look at their menu and it is full of chicken, steak and seafood, etc. How can a restaurant like that win a veggie award? Is it me or is there something wrong with that? Did they win by default because of lack of competition? I even called them to make sure I was reading their menu correctly. What gives? I was going to make it a point to go there but I worry about separation of grills, etc. |

Hello fellow CTers! I'm from Stamford. I was wondering if anyone else is from Fairfield County as well? What are your favorite places to eat? I enjoy The Drawing Room (tea room in Cos Cob), Capriccio (Italian restaurant in Stamford), and Kit's Thai Kitchen (Stamford). |

Depending on where you are in Tolland County, you might not be too far from the Willimantic Food Coop. HTH |
