|Veggieforhim08||Been good today I woke up had some Peanut butter and Jelly sandwhiches, Then I had carrots and celery dipped in dressing and then tonight was salad with spahgetti.|

|Veggieforhim08||Thats actually for Christian purposes for him but it also for my husband. No this is not his idea it was mine. I been good Mon yesterday and today everything meatless. As I experiment more I will quit cold turkey.|

If going slow is the best way for you, than that's great. Like Creep and Jess I went cold turkey as well (at least with actual meat. The by products went a little slower, but only because it took me a while to remember what all the stuff was).
I agree with Jess though...the more you have the more you want. I personally think its easier to just cut it all out.

|rabid_child||I'm curious -- do you want to be vegetarian for YOURSELF? Your user name indicates you're not doing it for yourself, and in this post you're doing what your husband thinks is best. What do YOU want? What benefit do you feel you'll be getting from continuing to eat poultry for the next few months?|

I can respect your decision, but I was more like creep....(I have to tell you, what a name....!) anyway, cold turkey ends up being my best ally, even when I didn't think it would be for some other things. I need to drop the rest of the occasional cheese I do eat.....it's a mental game in my head. Like said in other threads...the cravings do stop, but the more you have something, the more you want it, just like chocolate, fatty snacks, smoking, drinking, etc.....just give it up....you're almost there....why drag it out till summer, if you are only having meat a few times per month?

If the slow approach works for you, that's great, but for me, it just felt like I was putting off making the change, and I'd end up going back to the meats I'd decided to stop eating. It's been almost 3 weeks, and I don't even want meat anymore, as opposed to the months and months I was trying to quit before.
So, I would not "go slow with it" simply because your husband wants you to. Make sure it's what you want, and that you're not agreeing because you're afraid of making the change.

I think you're doing great! I went the slower route to really get comfortable with the vegetarian, then strict vegetarian diet. It involves such a different mindset, not to mention cooking styles. In the past I always became so obsessive about it, I was never able to last. If you're looking for a lifetime change, I definitly appreciate the easing in period.

|Veggieforhim08||My husband and I spoke and he wants me to go slow with this. Tonight we had shells meatless tho and I had a salad with carrots and spinach and pita chips and natural pop. I am just slowly trying different ways in Vegetarian foods. I am not going to eat mock meats I can't eat processed foods that much. I like to eat Granola cereals, fruit, nuts,oats, Non dairy items and veggies and salads . We get Organic coffee and Natural teas. I just wanted to message the group to say how much I am taking this so far. Its going slow and I am only down two days or so a month to eat snippets of poultry with my husband anyhow Hoping by summer time I'll have good ideas to have for Vegetarian living.|
