MeganLynn | I do not want to be buried...I want my body to be donated to science. Strip it of every useful organ that it's worth, transplant, dissect, preserve, and display. What good is rotting flesh...when it can be used for medical research or educational purposes. |

Yeah...bugs and necrophiliacs... ...on second thought...I wonder if being donated to a necrophiliac club would count as 'recycling/reusing' yourself...or putting your body to good use... ![]() (Okay...no more Chai tea for me tonight...) |

sallyomally | Whatever my family wishes is OK with me, just as long as it's as cheap as possible. I'd rather they have the money than some over priced funeral home. |

See, for me it's the other way around. I'd prefer to be buried that cremated (that is, if I wasn't embalmed) on the off chance I was alive. I've seen Kill Bill II. I could just punch my way out! Might take a few more martial arts lessons, but nothings impossible. ![]() |

That's why: I may be wrong, but isn't the religious thought that your soul leaves your body when you die? That your body really doesn't have much to do with you - as you are your soul, and your body is simply a vessel while you are inhabiting it? Wouldn't that make anything that happened to your body after you died irrelevant? What about the good that could potentially come from your remains? What are your thoughts on that? |

Mrrple | Cremated and thrown under a fruit tree. Maggots do not appeal to me. They just don't. I don't want to rot for years, I want it all to happen at once. Without the maggots... And expensive box. |

I found that years ago and it's been in my plans ever since. Becoming part of something as lovely and delicate as a coral reef is something I'd love. I also feel like it would make up for my ridiculous phobia of scuba diving/snorkling. |

LionSpirit | I wanna be cremated just in case I'm accidentally buried alive. But if I was gonna be buried, I'd want a mobile phone (do they work underground), a powerful two-way radio, a light so I can see what I'm doing, and a pipe leading to the surface so I can get air. |

Well... I do not want to die and see researchers playing with my remains... I want a coffin and a regular burial. Ana thinks like me. |

raefactor | cremation plz. I don't like either option but I figure it's the fastest way to get back to the state I'd be headed for anyways. |

All of it scares me, but I do not think I want to be burned. I've always been afraid of burning... I know I'll be dead, but still... Having a sky burial is way too creepy for me. I guess I would want to be buried underneath a big tree on a hill with a simple headstone. I don't want to be buried in a cemetery, but I'm not sure if that is possible. |

zoebird | i'd probably prefer sky burial. but, since that is illegal, i vote for cremation. |

![]() ![]() We have a friend who has been traveling throughout Asia for the past 2 years or so, and he was the one who told us about this, as he had unintentionally come across one in progress in ...tibet, I think... I guess they cut you up, cutting slices into your flesh to make it easier to eat and leave you to the vultures. When your bones have been picked clean, they go back and grind up your bones into a sludge which they then spread out again, and the vultures and other animals come back for that. Like I said, creepy as hell, but I like it - no lasting impact, and like you said, bluesand, a final act of generosity. *shivers* |

I'd say burned to cinders by a machine is fairly unnatural though. Why not just have your body dropped off somewhere? The fun thing about that is, if someone finds it and calls the police they'll start an investigation and that'll come back to how you died which had nothing to do with you being there! Although I think it is illegal to leave a body in the wild, so make sure whoever does it for you is careful! ![]() |
