Yeah, saturated fats are on the list of "bad fats" along with trans fat, which is actually much worse.
And yes, tinydancer got it I really think everyone eats more than that though. I read nutrition labels, but admit that sometimes I'll have a 10g saturated fat snack along with eating 3-4 meals a day. *hehe*

I think Tinydancer hit the nail on the head. I, too, believe that if you only consume foods that contain limited amounts of saturated fats to begin with, you shouldn't worry about your overall consumption of them. Nuts have some saturated fats, but only a small amount, and you'd have to eat a few bags to exceed your limits.
Don't stress too much.

the guidline is up to 10% of your calories should come from saturated fats.
For example, the "average joe" comsumning 2000 calories a day could have up to about 23 grams of saturated fats per day.
I really wouldn't worry that much about saturated fat intake being vegetarian. The primary sources are animal products, so unless you are subsisting on full fat cheeses, cocunuts, and palm oil, I think you'll be alright.

are these like a 'if you MUST eat saturated fat...stick below this for the sake of your poor ticker!!' limit or can our bodies sort of..get rid of about that much? if that makes sense. because i could quite easily go without. but be quite satisfied with small amounts.
..mm. poorly worded. just curious. never really understood that.
