I do this too, then roll them in unsweetened shredded coconut.

karenlovessnow I'm pretty good with the moderation thing when I'm having a craving...

Sometimes I'll go for half a toasted WW bagel with a little jam on it...I pretend it's a jelly donut...

bluewisdom I miss dates SO MUCH!! I'm allergic. =( It sucks. A lot.

As for the sugar could always have a little bit of something sweet, like pure maple syrup, or some 70% dark chocolate. That helps me.

Snow White Apple juice (and everything else listed) does contain sugar - glucose, sucrose and fructose. Not refined, but sugars nonetheless. Just saying...

Wolfie I still will eat some sugar. I'm not crazy or anything. But I eat entirely too much. My problem is I can't just have a bite or two. If I have mint Oreos in the house, they're gone in 2 days. It's mostly late at night when it hits.

I'll have to try the dates. I don't know if I like dates, guess I'll find out. The dried fruit and nut balls sound good too. I'm not a fan of dried fruit alone but it sounds good that way.

bluegold Like taurushed said about the muffins , I just use concentrated apple juice and sometimes some vanilla essence mixed together

taurushead same here, rabid child. its easier that way and i dont end up over eating and trying to fill a square hole with a round peg or..something.

rabid_child When I'm craving sugar, fruit doesn't work. I just eat a little bit of what I want and I'm cool again. If I just keep ignoring it and eating fruit or whatever, I end up eating a LOT more than I needed rather than just giving in.

taurushead yes!! dates!!!!! i do that too. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

but i also eat bits of sugar here and there. i always figured a little bit isn't THAT bad. bit of chocolate won't kill us :P sometimes the craving is just too strong.

there are lots of good recipes for ultrasweet vegan muffins made sugar free and with fruit juice out there?? they have less overall sugar than the other kind (but they taste sweeter?! its so strange!! love'm) and what's in there is natural. i recommend those!!!

vheogl I second the dates or any other dried fruit. Peanut butter and banana, frozen banana, rice milk, all simple and easily accessable.

At the moment i am atempting to break my addiction to sugar and keep making sugar free chocolate desert with tofu, dried fruit and cocoa, great frozen or on it's own. I also often make when i want desert is pancakes and insted of adding sugary things i chop up a banana and add some nut butter or plain soy yoghurt. Smoothies are also great.

The other thing you can do if you're really desperate is stick nuts and dried fruit in the food processor and make dried fruit nutty ball things which are really sweet, yummy and good for you.

I have actually been sugar free for about a week now and i'm amazed at how easy it's been and actually how good i feel.

Wolfie Anyone have any tips for overcoming them? Anything sweet that can take the place of sugar? Sometiems fruit works, sometimes it doesn't.
