I would love to be adopted!!! My gma, bless her, loved veggies, but they were boiled, canned, slathered in margarine, or cooked with bacon....not the crisp veggies, lightlysteamed that I have come to enjoy. We were a 'typical American family', bacon and eggs for bkft, meat sandwich for lunch, and a dinner centered around the meat dish...particularly roasts, and greasy gravy. Very good at the time, but not appealing to me anymore. My fam's life revolves around meat, and processed foods, I'm just tired of it all!!!! You sound like a nifty gma! ![]() |

Okay, adoptees... Know this: All cats are welcome, if approved by my two, who are old and cranky and very possesive of laps. Cats also have to be willing to be herded by my Border Collie. Mine have learned to just lie down and wait till she gets bored and goes away. I only have two 20 gallon aquariums, so if your fish are large, it's not gonna work. Can't have a pond, cuz Smilin' Sophie Jane (who is the reason I broke my knee, sigh) is half Lab and half Golden, and thinks water is for jumping in and splashing and fish are for biting in the water. She also has taken it upon herslf to chase the lizards up the wall. They refuse to co-operate by letting her catch them, so she is forced to chase butterflies, who take off just as she is about to grab them. She then lies on my feet and sulks. I dunno about the rabbits...if I had my way they could run loose in the house and share laps with the cats, but I wouldn't trust either the dogs or cats with them...or are they the BIG rabbits??? We had a disaster with my budgies, so I am now VERY careful. Gotta go finish making my Kombucha. Hugs to all my new kids, siblings, grandkids and grandimals. ![]() |

I could be your adoptive brother if you want. Be warned: I come with Crystal the cat, Hans and Franz the rabbits (Rex and Dutch, respectively), and 5 goldfish (adopted from my friends' koi pond). Welcome to VB! |

Well, I have converted my grandson..he now calls himself a 'casual vegetarian', meaning mostly, altho he'll still eat a little meat socially. When he finishes reading 'The China Study' and 'Food For a New America' maybe he'll go all the way. He likes to run, and tends to get exercise induced asthma, and has discovered if he lays off the milk and cheese it gets better. So...maybe he'll stop those. I explained to him about the government allowing a certain level of pus cells in milk, and that really got his attention! Besides, he has never been a big meat eater and actually likes the veggie stuff I feed him. Unfortunately, he's moving back home in two weeks and will be at the mercy of his mother's cooking, so I hope he can manage. He will definitely need some support... Anybody know any veggie clubs or groups or just nice vegetarians in the Santa Rosa/Rohnert Park/Cotati area of California?? He's twenty, by the way... How 'bout a nice veggie-friendly single girl? He's very tall, very thin, very intelligent...and quite handsome... None of this is grandmotherly prejudice...it's all quite true. ![]() Hugs to you all! Sharon (or Grandma to any adoptees ![]() |

evan_fabiani | People close to you are a lot more open then you think. When i was a meat-eater, i was more ignorant than most, and many people tell me i was the last person they thought would stop eating animals, but my life changed in a matter of 1 second, and i havent looked back. My mother, girlfriend, and sister are all meat-free now. ( ive said that in like 1000 threads already) hahaha. but you are more then welcome to join my family, i need a grandmother that understands me and does not try to hide meat in my food :S |

Okay. You're all adopted. Will you come over and walk my dogs and pet my cats and feed my fish and tortoises? I broke my kneecap chasing the dog who still thinks she's a puppy even tho she's two and am still hobbling around with a cane.... ![]() Actually, I'm getting lots better and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Not a train. No, NOT!!! ![]() Glad to meet you all... VEGGIE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sharon |

Hi Oatflake! Welcome! I have adult kids too - one is vegan, one is omni. And a husband and 11 year old son who'll eat anything. I get a lot of comments from the omni kid but since she still lives at home - and I don't cook meat - she has had to adjust. Which means she eats at her boyfriend's house most of the time. ![]() |

Welcome!!! I would love to have an adopted vegan grandma. My omni grandma is about as supportive as it gets (she makes me cabbage rolls with ground round even!), but I think the more the merrier!!!! I'm sure you'll find lots of online family here!!!! |

Okay, I admit it, I'm a grandma. I have also recently gone vegan without being fanatical...altho that may be on the horizon...lol... Anyway, I am married to a man who looks at a plate of food and says "Is there any meat in there? or "Where's the meat?" I also have two adult overweight daughters who think I am crazy to not eat meat, although my 20 year old grandson has been staying with me and I think I have him converted. ![]() ANYWAY....my point is, I keep reading that so many of you have problems with flesh eating parents who just don't get it, and I have kids who just don't get it, so maybe I could adopt some of you and we could be one big happy family of plant eaters. 'Kay??? ![]() |
