karenlovessnow I'm guessing this is after the fact now, but for future reference, I like to melt some Earth Balance over a medium flame and stir in some breadcrumbs. Then I sprinkle it on whatever it is I'm going to bake. Delish!

tala796 well i was going to cook all of the vegetables together on the stove and then put it in the dish and bake it

LeguMan Are your vegetables raw when you put them in the oven? If so, it's maybe better to bake them first then to put the yeast/crumbs during the last 10-15 minutes, with the grill on.

LeguMan Yeast will give a cheesy flavour, I love to use it on gratins... Bread crumbs give a crusty touch, which is great too! You might want to mix both, I think it would work well...

tala796 alright, i just need to know what is a vegan way to make a topping for a ratatouille dish that i need to have before this afternoon. i was thinking maybe home made breadcrumbs, or nutritional yeast, or wheat germ. i really don't know. there are vegetables and pasta and i want to bake it and give it a topping (that is where the nutritional yeast or breadcrumbs come in). thanks in advance.
