Max Power | I don't mind a martini (Beefeater, wet, extra fruit) when I'm at the right joint. Hrmm... I'm frothing at the mouth. Interesting. |

It's Martini Time!!! How 'bout a lovely Stoli Martini, sans olives? I dig G n T's (my drink of choice), but don't really enjoy gin in martini's, so I usually go for a vodka martini. |

American beers suck? Oh no, thefragile77, you're getting American beers confused with the crap they export. ![]() There are hundreds of microbrews all across the US that only sell beer locally, and naturally, take up quite a following of people who are interesting in buying locally, and not drinking crap. Look - A nice list - My Life is Beer What an appropriate name for the website. ![]() |

Lothar M Kirsch | Dry wines or champagnes don´t contain any sugar (in French sec or brut), anything saying demi or semi does. Colour doesn´t say anything about the contents of sugars/carbs. |

Wine has very little carbs, red or white, although both have some. However, I'm not going down to the local watering hole and asking for a glass of cabernet.![]() ![]() |

my dad is on the Atkins diet and he swills red wine like its no tomorrow. white has carbs, red doesnt. I'd get myself some Bonny Doone Big House Red and let the good times roll! XOXO beth P.S. Other favorites: Rosemount Shiraz, Yellow Tail Merlot, and really any Cali wines. yum! |

GhostUser | i saw a n ad for a low carb beer in one of my bodybuilding mags. im not sure if its veggie. i'll find it later. as far as mixed drinks, i would try orange juice mixed with whatever. its not low carb, but its a serving of fruit. |

Quizeen | Heh, Max Power, in the interest of preserving masculinity you could ask for a gin and club soda. Much less sissified. |

How about a bloody mary (vodka, tomato juice, pepper, horseradish, vegan worcestershire if you have it)? I've never been on Atkins, so I don't know how many carbs tomato juice has specifically, but it's pretty low in calories. I think wine spritzers are pretty good too -- 1 part wine, 1 part club soda, served over ice. |

In fact, plenty of people here drink crap like Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Rolling Rock. I'm more refined like that. The better you get to know me, the more you'll come to realize that I don't fit into anyone's expectations, except maybe Cougar's. |

Lemme just say as a lover of "fine beverages" myself, the old Citrus Twist Vodka with V8 Juice and a Touch of Vegan Worcestshire Sauce with Tabasco is a fine drink. Also, Ginger Ale with Vodka (a Moscow Mule for the Old Skool) is very good. Both are pretty low in calories (for booze) and although veggies are carbs they aren't as hardcore as something like bread. Yeah- what to do with all those beer carbs.... I think I'm getting a beer gut![]() I saw a picture of myself in a bikini at a bluegrass festival- (hey, I don't remember walking around in my bikini ![]() ![]() Anyhow- I just love beers. I don't like liquor at all. I don't like Lite beer, either (come on Max, dude- at least start off with a decent beer!!!)- I like the really carb loaded beers (IPA, ESB, brown ales...Goood beers)- I read that red wine can actually keep the fat and cholesterol down (how, I don't remember). They used the French as an example. Maybe you should try changing to fine red wines, Max. You could attract the more sophisticated ladies...maybe get yourself a sugar-mama. I've been trying to switch to wine- not bad, but it makes me silly and gives me a headache the next day... Headache or beer gut? I'll deal with the next day headache... |

Although I don't imagine I'll be willing to trade in my rocks at the bar to order it. |

spa_girl | It's kind of a girl-y drink, but sometimes I have raspberry stoli w/ seltzer... it's great! You could always do vodka (plain or flavored) w/seltzer and a squeeze of lime. |

dawngirl | Club soda...blah....seltzer water with salt. You could try some of the flavored seltzer waters as mixers? There's a couple of varieties..orange, lemon lime, wild cherry, raspberry. I don't believe any of them have sodium, etc. either. |

Trying to trim my carb intake some - not go all Atkins on that ass or nothing - just kicking the more superfluous and high-carb items out of my regular diet. The alcohol part is going to be a bit of a problem on account of I drink like prohibition starts tomorrow. Beer is a problem because I luffitsomuch. But between Mich-Ultra and Miller Lite, I should be okay there. However, mixed drinks... Any good ideas? EVERYTHING has carbs. Not the likker (gin, vodka, moonshine, whiskey = 0 carbs) but the mixers... No juice, no soda (diet? Blech) what the hell is "club soda" ? it has 0 carbs... Anywho, any Atkins-ers gone through this before? (Not that I'm Ankinsing). |
