karenM It runs from 2pm to 10pm the first day (Sat.), and noon to 6pm on Sunday. Check out all the info here:

GhostUser is it an all day thing? I remember it was over at 6pm last year.
07-31-2006 09:29 PM
karenM Would you be interested in going Saturday evening (the 12th)? I realized I have something that afternoon, so the earliest I can go is 5:30.
07-31-2006 05:54 PM
GhostUser I went last year... it was okay. I am not sure if I would want to go this year.. and i dont think my parents would like to come. But if any of you are going.. maybe I can tag along?

karenM Hey people, who's going to the L.A. Tofu Festival on August 12? See end of the California thread....

epski I have an aversion to potlucks for some reason, but I'd try to make it if that was what everyone wanted to do. I fear that, with the large number of last minute cancellations in this group, we'd end up with a very odd selection to choose from, though. Great thing about eating out is that everyone can order what he or she wants.

I still have the same schedule constraints as always.

GhostUser Oh come on.. a meet-up in August. We should hold off for the 6Flags till Sept then...

But we'll have a potluck, lunch or dinner at a vegan restaurant, or an activity indoors.

epski I'd love to go to Magic Mountain after Labor Day, when the kids are back in school, and the air has cooled a reasonable amount.
07-26-2006 04:02 AM
Amy SF No, August will be too hot. September will be too hot. Perhaps we should hold off until October...

Let's have a Halloween party!
07-26-2006 12:08 AM
GhostUser so.. shall we plan a next meet-up for the month of August?????
07-25-2006 01:13 PM
GhostUser I have tickets to Universal, Knotts, and 6Flags.

So i wanna go!!!!

Disneyland is worth going when no one goes there. :}~
07-24-2006 08:31 PM
epski In other news, Magic Mountain may be sold off, and possibly shut down to make way for development... Might be a good incentive to go after the summer crowds subside a bit, or at least this heat. It gets crazy hot up there.

I can get passes to MM for $27 each, FWIW. (but only 6 total)
07-24-2006 08:28 PM
epski I still have free passes for Universal...
07-24-2006 08:03 PM
Amy SF How come nobody ever wants to go to Disneyland?
07-24-2006 06:36 PM
GhostUser restaurants are usually cool.

who wants to go to 6Flags!?!??!
07-23-2006 09:22 PM
epski I vote for waiting until after summer!

FWIW, it was 112 degrees where I was working yesterday... Yeesh.

Amy SF I really think we should have a more extensive kind of meetup - perhaps in San Diego - since there seems to be quite a few VBers down there. That's something that would require staying overnight, but we could do more than just have dinner. When I was a kid, we (me and my family) would frequently spend weekends down there. Some of the highlights of our visits included the SD Zoo (we don't have to go there), Shakespeare at the Old Globe, and a little sailin' on the water.

Oh, yeah, and my mother insisted on stealing a Gideon Bible from the hotel room.

karenM Since I mentioned this organization at dinner last night, and we seem to have a hard time getting a VB group together for dinners, here's the info in case people want to attend a VDC event:

Vegetarian Dining Club

Features two to four vegan dinners per month at Los Angeles and Orange County restaurants. Dinners are usually held on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. at a cost of approximately $25 per person. The evening includes a speaker. Membership fee includes discount coupons, a holistic directory of vegetarian restaurants and related services, and a special card for ongoing discounts at vegetarian restaurants. Phone Randy Ellis at 323-953-0543 or Ken Ziff at 360-396-2826.

The above came from the Vegetarians in Paradise web site, and I think all of the info is still current.

Amy SF My dad hit his head - I had to go sit with him just in case.

I really wish I could have been there.
07-23-2006 12:34 PM
karenM Amy! Where were you?!

The dinner was really nice - Wheel of Life is an excellent restaurant, and porvida and ProudVegan are great company. On porvida's recommendation, I took home an order of the restaurant's veggie jerky. Wow!! It's so good the label should warn against the possibility of addiction!

I've posted pictures in the photo album....
07-22-2006 05:37 PM
Amy SF My printer isn't hooked up to my computer right now.
07-22-2006 04:01 PM
GhostUser print out the coupon from the website. 10% for meal.
07-22-2006 03:51 PM
GhostUser Oh for crying out loud. Its closed to the beach.. it wont as bad.. and besides. Its in the evening and it should be cooler.

I might bring a friend.
07-22-2006 02:07 PM
Amy SF Irvine? Are we all crazy? It's 95 there! That's HOT.
07-22-2006 01:02 PM
GhostUser perfect.. see you all there!
07-22-2006 11:44 AM
karenM Great! I'll see you all there! (I'll be the disheveled, wilted-looking person about to pass out from the heat. I'm going to head out early and check out the OC Fair today!)
07-22-2006 11:28 AM
porvida Yes, I am! I'll be there tonight Is it cool if I bring my boyfriend with me? We'll be down in that area this afternoon visiting my dad. I'll tell him to pretend he's a vegetarian
07-21-2006 11:48 PM

07-21-2006 07:21 PM

No idea, and nothing was posted in their window, but I'll report back when I have more info!

Thanks for adding yourselves to the frappr map, everyone. I put a few more restaurants on there, and I hope you'll all add your favorites too.

So.... are we still on for 7pm in Irvine tomorrow? ?
