I've heard a lot of people say they turn on the air conditioning to stay awake (I actually do it in my car sometimes to keep me alert) ... but I recently read something that's pretty interesting...

It said that our bodies literally can't fall asleep until our internal temperatures drop to a certain level (not sure what that temp. is...). So I suppose if you turned the heat on, you'd actually be keeping your body temp. from dropping low enough to allow you to fall asleep!

Not sure how relevent that was, but I thought it was interesing... I'm sure if you tried this, you'd be awfully uncomfortable, but it might just work!

Moechalatte MAN! I wish 1 a.m. were early for me ... I'd love to have a job that had me working late nights like that!

I'm not sure what to tell you about how to stay up later, since I have the exact opposite problem ... But I drink lots of caffeine throughout the day (mmmm coffee) and eat a lot later than usual ('breakfast' @ 5 p.m.; 'lunch' @ around 8-9; 'dinner' @ around 11-12) ... so I'm assuming those two things right there are enough to = no sleep until very, very late!

Good luck!

gas4 My trick for staying awake is moving my jaw. I have an MP3 player that I sing along to on long drives and if I don't have it with me I chew on something.

You should get yourself some gum or lollies, or celery (I know that was a bit random, I just like celery).

Chrysalis When you start to feel really tired, do lots of stretching. I used to work overnight shifts and that would do wonders.

I can't play that game anymore. I'll have a whole list of things that I want to do that day, sit down to play the Sims, and the next thing I know its 3 o'clock in the morning and my eyes are crrusting over because I haven't blinked in 5 hours.

Is there anything that needs organization? Folders on your computer, your sock drawer, your closet, CD collection? Go at it, with some music playing.

I've had to do this before, too, it's a pain. I try to keep from from staying in one position for long until I'm within 10 minutes of my sleep time, or I'll just fall asleep.

GhostUser I often have to do overnight shifts, which are a killer. I'm stuck on the computer for that time, so online games are my best friend. Pogo.com can get pretty addicting...

Like Angel said, reading a book is also a good way to keep awake!

HandcuffedAngel I have bad insomnia, and to pass my time I watch television [I'm an adult swim guru], I read a good book, I'll pop in a movie, I get on here and surf the web, things like that.

For me, reading a good book passes my time the fastest.

kidding!

Going out for a walk might work... watching a movie... doing crosswords... dancing... drawing.... cleaning... anything that makes time pass & you enjoy, I would guess (heh... spending time online...)
