Interested to hear how this went for you! This same exact thing just happened to me, Purchased a smoothie from a local smoothie bar and thought the pieces were the berry seeds.. until I got a weird shaped one that I couldn't chew! They are hard plastic pieces! Hope I didn't swallow too many :-o

DMZdogs I don't eat twizzlers. Yuck. My dad swears by them though. He thinks that they are "healthy". *roll eyes*

I think I'd rather eat the plastic, at least that doesn't have the awful flavor to go along with the horrible texture.

DMZdogs I think it must have been some weird part of one of the fruits because I set a piece on the desk and it is now dry and brittle. If it were plastic, that wouldn't have happened. Dang....wasted that last bit of smoothie for nothing!

VeganForHealth It means you're no longer recyclable.

thebelovedtree Unless you eat a large enough piece to get stuck somewhere you should be fine.

ilovemydragon If its plastic, it will just just go through your system and it will come out the other end.

DMZdogs I made myself a blueberry, strawberry, orange smoothie and was really enjoying it although there were some chewy bits. I just assumed that I hadn't left it in the blender long enough. Then, 3/4 ways through the smoothie, I started to realize that the chewy bits were not chewable. I had been just chewing a bit absentmindly and swallowing. So, I spat a piece out into my hand, and, well, I think it's plastic. It's clearish--though purple from the blueberries. It stretches. I'm not sure how much of this I've had or where it came from. The strawberries and oranges were fresh. Blueberries were frozen. I've made smoothies with all of these fruits before and I can't remember if I had chewy parts then. Any chance this is from the fruit and not actually plastic? And if it is plastic, am I going to be sick?
