natty6 | Thanks for the help guys. I ended up calling the company, it took less than five minutes and the representative was very helpful. I should have thought to do that from the start. It doesn't have any of those labels, Siv, but thank you because that is really great to know. The boot is animal free by the way. |

I mostly find that shoes have this labeling system as follows:
So if it doesn't have the "hide" looking icon, I would assume it's safe. Of course, who knows if they used animal based glue etc but these days such a thing is far more expensive than the artificial versions. |

Have you tried calling the company that makes the shoe? Is there a phone number or email available? I have done this several times asking if a shoe had any animal derived materials. I even had a sales lady once call on my behalf and research it for me at the store. |

natty6 | How can I tell if a shoe is vegan? For a bachelorette party we are all supposed to wear cowgirl boots. I don't want to buy any for a multitude of reasons but am being pressured to buy this really cheap pair called Rampage Wendy. It looks very much like fabric and not leather, but how do I know? I googled the name, searched the internet for ways to tell, etc. the packaging does not indicate the "ingredients" so I don't know. This is really a question about how to tell whether shoes are animal free, not about where to get special vegan shoes. I also noted that many other shoes in the store had stickers that said something like "composed of all man-made materials." Are these shoes vegan? It sounds like it to me. I would really appreciate any help on this one, I don't know where else to go. |
