codemonkey I'd like to go down there and throw a brick through their window.

So a few weeks ago, my brakes were making some noise so I took my car to Brake Max for a free inspection. After sitting around in the lobby for an hour, the guy told me that my front and rear brakes needed to be replaced along with the rotor and drums and that it would cost $600. He also said that the rears were so bad that the car was unsafe to drive. So I told them that I had to talk to my husband about it. Immediately after that, my husband called our mechanic friend in San Diego who said they wanted to come out and visit anyway and he'd just do the work in our garage. Our mechanic friend spent a good hour putting my car on jack stands, pulling off the wheels and pulling off the brakes only to find that my front brakes are practically brand new and the rears have another 5000 miles at least. The noise was just from the weather getting colder at night. My car is fine and completely safe to drive.

I'm totally going to complain to the bureau of automotive repair.
