slywlf These sound scrumptious! Hubby loves cinnamon rolls, and I have been trying so hard to get him on a healthier diet - these will be a hit I think ;-)

Mojie Well, I made them this evening and they came out pretty good!

I had some issues with the temperature of the soy milk (it felt room temp. the first time but the yeast didn't activate, so I tried again with it warmer and it still didn't seem to be activating; made the dough anyway and they turned out fine) and the dough not rising (it's cold around here and putting the dough in a warm oven solved that issue), but in the end they worked out just fine. Nice and tender and not too overwhelmingly cinnamony like Cinnabon's can be.

Not sure how I like the icing. It's a little more sour than the typical cream cheese frosting I'm used to. I'm not sure if that's because that's the way Tofutti's Better Than Cream Cheese tastes (I don't eat cream cheese on its own; only in icing or cheesecake), or if it's just the icing. I think next time I might make them with a standard icing sugar type frosting.

They went over well with my omni husband and friend (they ate half the rolls) and my mom said they turned out really well but didn't want to eat them because she's watching what she eats (she took a nibble of one to see how they turned out.

HummusKelpilot I'm sorry, but the song "Shake Your Bon-Bons, Shake Your Bon-Bons" made me fall in love with cinnabons, now you're saying there's something BETTER than them, I can't beleive it!!!, I refuse to beleive it!!!

powlina what can i use instead of Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese? i live in guatemala and it is not sold here nor any cream cheese substitute..

veggieeater I've made these twice now when we've had friends over and everyone loved them. When I made them yesterday, the dough didnt rise well the first time and I was ready to throw it out. I decided just to finish it anyway and was very glad that I did. They doubled in size the second time and came out really well. Thanks so much for the recipe MollyGoat.

*Cringe* These are like CRACK.

I used a soy creamer and icing sugar icing though because we can't get tofutti cream cheese anywhere around here.

My goodness. Next time I'm doubling it.

butterfly_acid i goofed, and forgot the earth balance in the dough, and had to take the dough out of the machine and mix (moosh, moosh moosh) it up by hand until it was incorporated, and even in that instance (cuz I'm a moron) it still came out perfectly. LOL...so..I think whatever way to put the ingredients together should be fine, "as long as they all make it in there."

Also, to be sure, pre-mixing of the flaxseed would be important, the rest is just to be tossed in, or according to your manual, but I just kinda toss in all in there and pray for the best ;-) I haven't been disappointed yet (at least not with operational problems, although operator error, that's always another story!)

:-)

and I'm making these for another vegan potluck tonight ^_^

It is my signature "dish" for the potluck and everyone says these things are "to die for"

YAY!!!

Really you can dump just about any dough recipe in your bread machine and as long as your ingredients all got in there you should be fine, the only time its a problem is if you're using the delayed start timer, because then you don't want your yeast to get wet too early.

Thanks so much!!! Your Awesome!

thebelovedtree- I'm really curious as to the order in which you put the ingredients into your bread machine. Did you follow the recipe's directions to "mix the yeast, sugar, and heated soymilk and let sit until foamy"?? and so on, or, did you just throw the first eight ingredients in all together?????

I want to use my bread machine but its new and I'm paranoid because the directions booklet makes it seem so touchy about how you add ingredients and in which order and I'm afraid I'll screw it up

Please help!

Thanks

Gnarly I've made these a bunch of times, mainly for family gatherings (I get requests now) and everyone loved them. Most people asked for the recipe. My brother just asked me to make him some more.
02-12-2006 10:08 PM
butterfly_acid yeah...just get them all rolled up and quickly put them in the fridge wrapped and ready to go....and let them raise in a warm place in the AM with the oven ready and raring for when they've doubled in size...

should work. ^_^
02-07-2006 11:01 AM
berrykat refrigerating them should be fine then you can letthem rise in th am should work fine
02-07-2006 03:13 AM
karenlovessnow anyone have any ideas if whether or not you can make these the night before, not bake them, but refrigerate, then in the morning, let them sit out to rise and then bake? I want to bring them warm to work but won't have the time to do the whole process in the morning. Just wondering.
02-07-2006 12:19 AM
butterfly_acid btw, the cinnamon buns turned out "to die for" and were "the best ever tasted--ever" and "I have no problems saying these are better than Cjnnabons"..."I tried it, and upon tasting them, I had 5 other people try them, and everyone thought they were incredible."

^_^ whoever landed this recipe is awesome...I did pull a couple "this and that's"..ie-I added a lil more than a cup, a lil more than a tsp, etc...throughout the entire recipe. It came out perfectly (er...way better than I imagined).

Thank you again ^_^
02-03-2006 09:52 PM
butterfly_acid ohhh I made em...we'll have to see how good they are in the morning ^_^ I'm too tired to eat them now!!! I suffered with an all nighter last night just about and my daughter decided to wake up at her usual time....lol

02-03-2006 12:57 PM
