My answer would depend on where are you staying and whether or not you will have a rental car. If you will be staying on the strip, there are plenty of restaurants with good vegetarian options on their menus.

I will be in Vegas Sept 5-7th with my veggie boy and we would both like to go out to eat at a really NICE place that has vegetarian options (vegan is not necessary). Does anyone have a suggestion?

We *do* have a car.

I will be moving next week about 45 minutes from Las Vegas. I will be doing all my shopping and eating out there due to the town I am moving to has but one general store. Does anyone know if Las Vegas a veg friendly town in general? It's bad enough I have to drive so far when I need something and I am worried I am going to be a struggling vegan! Does anyone live there that has any tips/suggestions?

I just spent last week in Vegas - so that hardly makes me an expert but I have a few suggestions.

We did not stay on the strip so if you are going to Vegas and don't have a rental car these options aren't for you. BUT if you can get around here are some suggestions.

Overall, we found quite a few places to go. The best is a new place called Red Velvet Cafe. It is a odd combination of meat and vegan food but was wonderful and the owers are really nice people! I had the VEGAN (yes vegan) tuna melt and it was incredible. My husband had the vegan chiken panini and chocolate cake with 'butter'cream frosting.

Their Whole Foods is pricey but they have alot of vegan options. More than WF's in other cities. We drove past at least 2 Trader Joes so you are covered if you need groceries.

There are alot of ethinic choices - We went to Crazy Pita and had a delish, cheap, fast meal of hummus, falafel, roasted red peppers, cucumber salad and pita bread.

Don't forget about Ronald's Donuts - they have vegan donuts!! They are every bit as greasy and sugary as you would want a donut to be! The jelly and soy filled ones were our faves!

Wow, the menu at the Red Velvet Cafe is great, I'll definately check them out! I did a google earth search and Las Vegas is loaded with Trader Joes and Whole foods! I'm so excited we dont have any grocery stores like that around here, hooray!

If anyone is ever in Vegas go to The Red Velvet Cafe!!! It was amazing! I had the vegan chicken spinach quesadilla and fell in love. I dont care for how small the place is and the chairs to sit on are crappy, my daughter could barely sit in them without almost falling smack hard onto the floor. I would love to see this place in a larger, more convient location!

Ronalds donuts were awesome too! Every donut is vegan, minus the cake type donuts.

I'll be going to Vegas early next month for 4 or 5 days for work. I've never been there, so I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

I'm told my company has a deal with the Golden Nugget hotel, so that's where I'll be staying. Anyone know if there's good vegan food in/near there? I'm really l/o veg, but I prefer to eat vegan whenever convenient.

Not sure if I'll be renting a car - probably will though, to get to our warehouse where I'll be working. I just hope it's not tough to find decent food near work, since I'm likely to be spending 12+ hours per day there. I have no idea how far it is from the hotel. I don't know anything about the city, so I'm likely to be very lost. Is the public transportation any good? ie If I don't rent a car, will I have problems getting a cab back and forth from my hotel to work?

Any other recommendations? I'm going to be working full time, but if I do get a free night, what's a good way to spend it? I'm not a gambler, but I know there's lots of shows and stuff in Vegas. Are there any good ones that I'll be able to get into on short notice, or do they all require advance tickets?

Thanks in advance,

Definitely check out Red Velvet Cafe mentioned earlier in the thread. It's sort of far from the strip so grab a cab or maybe a bus if you don't have a car.

Public transportation stinks here...definitely need a car (and probably some good defensive driving lessons).

I am new to vegetarianism so I won't be of much help foodwise. I have eaten at Go Raw and it is pretty good. All of the casinos have buffets, some better than others, that have a large variety of food choices. The vegetarian restaurants are off the beaten path, but not too bad if you do not mind driving in unfamiliar places.

People that come to visit seem to know more about the night life and attractions than I do and I have lived here since '84. If you are interested in a specific show let me know and I will find out what I can. Comedy shows are usually a good bet. Always ask if there is a discount. Actually, say "I want to know what type of discounts you have." Sometimes they offer discounts to locals, so if you cannot get one by asking, let me know.

Feel free to contact me though if you have any questions.

So much for my big trip to Vegas. The only things I saw in town were the inside of my hotel room, the inside of my company's warehouse building, and the inside of my eyelids. And I didn't even see that last one enough - I'm now physically sick from not getting enough sleep the last week, because I've been working such extremely long hours.

I was really looking forward to seeing Vegas, too, though I figured I wouldn't have a ton of time to be a tourist. One of these days, I need to take a real vacation there.
