Calling all moms, aunties, doggy-moms, and everyone who loves moms! Join the Mother's Day fun run.

Vegas Veg members will run (or walk) 1 mile, 5k, or 10k to honor ALL mothers by fundraising for Farm Sanctuary. We will run for sows in gestation crates, dairy cows who've had their calves stolen, mother hens cramped in battery cages, and all other animal mothers who deserve our compassion. (Learn about Farm Sanctuary at farmsanctuary.org )

The course is flat and should be easy for newbie runners. The flatness is also great for strollers. Dogs are welcome (keep em leashed). We will meet before the run to chat and stretch, then again after the run for a vegan potluck. Feel free to join the potluck and/or the fundraising even if you don't plan to run/walk.

RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com/vegasveg/events/60420472/

Please tell your family, friends, coworkers about the event and ask them to donate to support you and all animal mothers. Remember every donation counts, no matter how small. Our fundraising goal for this event is $300. Let's exceed it!!!

UPDATE: the race was this morning. The weather was great. So far we raised over $350 for Farm Sanctuary and I expect a few more donations to roll in late. It was fun and we'll definitely be doing this kind of thing again!

I hope the Chihuahuas didn't have to run! Nice job! I'm curious if Farm Sanctuary supported your efforts...? Did they send signage, t-shirts, pamphlets, or was this something you organized on your own? I only ask because they stopped supporting the Richmond walk last year, and we raised over 2k the year before. We were really disappointed.

They supported it by sending a box of pamphlets. We decided to do this because they were cutting back on the Walk for Farm Animals and encouraged us to do a bake sale or fundraising dinner instead.
