Just having my shout out!

Was wondering if there were any good lists for vegan restaurants, any vegan cooking classes, and if there are options for us that don't live very close to the lake :D

I'm from the portage park area and it obviously feels like a suburb. I like visiting the Super H mart and the Assi Mart, but reading the labels there are much harder than reading them at the local TJs (well, as local as very far away can get)

Anyone an expert at the Super H mart or Assi Mart?

And my flexi boyfriend lives in Chambana and i'm trying to see where he can find some affordable veg*n options to eat out at and affordable groceries.

And ... wouldn't it be cool to have a chambana veggieboards potluck and social evening? :P just throwing that out there.

There used to be some Champaign-Urbana veg*ns here, but I don't recall anyone who is still around. There is a vegan Meetup group though: http://www.meetup.com/The-Champaign-Urbana-Vegan-Meetup-Group/

I've never been to any Asian grocery store though, so I can't help there!

I'm currently anywhere from a half hour to and hour away from the Loop (traffic depending, though just recently it took 2 hours. Traffic was so bad and the rain didn't help). My time has been about evenly split between towns in Cook County and towns in Will County, then a year spent in Kankakee County. Plus lots and lots of time spent in Chicago itself. grin.gif

And yeah, I totally do! I've been to other ethnic/mainly ethnic grocery stores before, but not an Asian one. I have a list somewhere of all sorts of Asian stuff I want to get whenever I get around to going to one. Much of it consists of odd tofu/soybean stuff you never see. laugh.gif Mmmm, all this talk makes me want some spring rolls or wontons or something. tongue3.gif
