So I ate pretty well over the weekend. I tried to go to Garden Cafe for lunch Saturday, but I got there at 11:30, and they don't open until noon. So I went to Dandelion instead. They were pretty good. I went to Ethos twice - for dinner Friday night and Sunday brunch. I even walked there in the good weather on Sunday. I really like that place, especially since it was so close.
I also ventured further east on Colonial drive at one point and recognized a bunch of veg-friendly chain restaurants only about 2 miles down - Sweet Tomatoes, Chipolte, Pei Wei, etc.
Even the hotel restaurant had a reasonably priced vegetarian pasta dish, though they loaded it up with way too much cheese. I'll eat some cheese occasionally, but I hate when they drown it in the stuff like that. If I eat there again next time I'm there, I might ask them to hold the cheese on that pasta dish and just have it vegan style.
Anyway, it looks like that hotel will be the location of more chess tournaments in the future, so I'm pretty happy that there are a ton of good options. Now I just have to see if I can afford the money and time off work to make the trip up there for those tourneys.
That's awesome you had such a good time!! One of these days I am going to be able to get down that way for some of the great veggie places!

I would love to meet you at Ethos if I can swing it!! Have to see what the vehicle's schedule is for that weekend; I would be more likely to be free on Sunday. I will let you know!
Any idea yet if you'll be able to meet while I'm up there? I'm driving up tomorrow, and I'm not sure if I'll have internet access from the hotel (I actually stayed at a different hotel down the street while attending the event at this one last month), so let me know by tonight, if you can.
Anyone else in Orlando want to meet this weekend?
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how many veg-specific restaurants I'll be able to go to this time. I'm carpooling with someone I don't know, so he's probably an omni, and I don't know how open-minded he'll be about "unusual" food options. But at least I know from visiting last time that there are a bunch of veg-friendly omni restaurants in the area, too.
Right now, I live in the Tampa bay area, but I'll be attending the University of Central FLorida Orlando this year.
Orlando is very veg-friendly. I've been surprised going there on vacation occasionally that there are so many veg-only restaurants. Down here in the southern part of the state, most places have one or two veg*n choices, and there are occasional places with a separate veg*n menu, but I don't know any veg-only restaurants in my area.
