(CNN) -- The chief executive officer of a Western grocery store chain resigned after he was arrested in a child prostitution sting, according to police and CNN affiliate KNXV.
Michael Gilliland, 52, was one of eight people arrested in the sting, said Steve Martos, spokesman for Phoenix police. He is accused of soliciting sex online from a girl who identified herself as a minor on Thursday, he said.

Glad i've helped him in his endeavors in the past.

Then again, he was just trying to help/contribute to the poor girl as well. Is that so wrong to want to put some money in the pockets of an underprivileged girl?

It means that he's not positive of his innocence, but is relatively sure. Can anyone really truly be sure of anything in this world??

weren't you the one who suggested he was just trying to help the girl out? Maybe you're on to something!

There's a really small chance he didn't realise she was actually a minor, sometimes it IS hard to tell, but I doubt it, I honestly think a lot more guys would solicit sex from underage girls if they thought they could get away with it.

This is why you should never take the word of someone you never see on the internet. Mind, this really isn't coming from some orange slices.

Anytime I think I'm perfect, I remember that my cousin lives on an island, and I've never walked over to visit her.

According to the article, there's no chance. She identified herself as a minor online, so she flat-out told him in writing.

According to a news article,

Quote:
A jury trial is scheduled for Aug. 9 for Michael Gilliland, the former Sunflower Farmers Market CEO indicted by an Arizona grand jury on a count of child prostitution.

http://www.dailycamera.com/news/ci_17909107?source=pkg

Since the trial has not occurred yet and since he pled not guilty, I am not willing to consider him guilty until he has been convicted. We also have not heard his defence, and will not until the trial.

We don't know what he was told by the undercover officer, whether he was told several different and contradictory things, and whether and what he actually believed.

No, I don't automatically believe what I am told by police and prosecutors.

I'm bumping this, because there was supposed to be a trial by now, and yet I was seeing nothing about the case in the news.

Quote:
The trial for Michael Gilliland, the natural foods grocery founder indicted by an Arizona grand jury on a charge he knowingly engaged in prostitution with a minor, has been postponed until Nov. 14, officials with the Maricopa County District Attorney's Office confirmed Wednesday.

Both sides remain in the process of discovery and are conducting pre-trial interviews, said Jerry Cobb. The move marks the second postponement for the case, which was originally set for a trial in August and then delayed until this coming Monday.
