Are they real?

Were they shot on purpose just for the show?

Were they bought already dead from hunters?

What's the catch here?

The one where Rick put a hare in a sack seemed real...

I watched The Talking Dead that was on afterwards and they were discussing that. There wasn't actually any dead animals used on the show.

I don't know if it pertains to season 4 but I remember a behind the scenes look at the first or second season and they were talking about how they used props for the animals like the deer the hunter shot.

As the above posters said, they're not real.

Yeah, it's amazing what they can do with special effects these days. It's very convincing.

I just love that people apparently got all upset because some pigs (that weren't even real pigs) died in the series.

All I could think was "So, you're upset that fake pigs died in an imaginary situation where it did sort of come down to life and death.....But animal use in army training and the bacon on your burger? That's something you can live with....."

Carnists be crazy.

Okay so no taxidermists profited from the show? Good to know!

I agree! And not to mention there's the infamous and ignorant question of all time, "But what will the animals eat if you eat of all their plants?" Omnivores or meat-eaters are just so illogical sometimes!

None of it is real.

If watch the credits on most TV shows and Films, they do in fact note that "No animals were harmed", with other legal disclaimers. Can't speak for outside of America, though, as some cultures do not value animal life quite the same.
