I'm going to attend the counter protest. Any ideas on some things to do? I'm thinking about bringing a cooler of water for the anti-WBC people and maybe some fresh fruits and what have you.

I have no suggestions to contribute, but good for you! The WBC is a truly awful group of people.

Who needs sleep when we've got love?
Who needs keys when we've got clubs?
Who needs please when we've got guns?
Who needs peace when we've gone above?

I would not bother attending a counter protest. A group like that wants any attention they can get, even negative attention. A counter protest brings more attention to their cause and makes the event more media worthy. Essentially by going you are helping them publicize their message.

We made signs that said "A loving family is a great family no matter what" and "<h8/>" when WBC protested a local high school. Other than that, snacks are a great idea!! Also, consider making signs with long handles, so you're just holding them straight, rather than holding them up. My arms got tired pretty fast!

These clowns are coming to my city on Saturday. They're protesting a production of The Laramie Project. Fortunately, there's a counterprotest being organized. I would go but I've got a gig right at the time they're supposed to be there.

don't take my life away, don't take my life away.

The man and his extended family aka Church are like real life trolls. They seem to have a penchant for picking the most offensive thing to say about every tragic situation. Really makes you think if they're baiting for somebody to throw a punch or the city to deny them protesting permits so one of the 10 (or is it 11?) Phelps' lawyer kids (their whole clan is full of lawyers) could sue the heck out of somebody.

I don't know if I can go to this counter protest. It just keeps making sob hysterically.
