a friend of mine (who is vegan) was once on a dating site for vegans and vegetarians and other such folks. she went out on a couple of dates, but then decided to look elsewhere for a boyfriend.



the reason?



she said she spent every date with these other vegans being questioned about every detail of every product and aspect of her life, and if she answered "wrong" they would say judgmentally "you know that's not vegan, right?"



yeah, enough dating vegans, she said.



she met her BF on another site, and turns out he is vegan, but didn't ask her any questions about her shampoo.

pffft. so an elephant in a pitch dark room is okay? you are so not vegan!

that guy is not vegan then all vegans know that the "shampoo question" is an essential one on the first date. if youre a really smooth & cool dude such as myself, you can slip it in somewhere between "do you wanna share a pizza" and "i spoze a bonk is out of the question ??"

It's okay because no one can see what I am doing. :P LOL






I never found another vegetarian I could see myself being committed to because of that sort of stuff. It always seems like people are trying to be 'more veg' than me and try to make it a competition.

To be against animal exploitation, and to do your best to avoid it.

From my limited experience as a member of our local vegetarian and vegan group, veg*ns are like members of Christianity. They are either liberal, evangelical, pentecostal, conservative, ecumenical, universalists etc.



I'm all for people taking responsibility for their own life and avoiding the casting of judgment on others'.



Having said that, it does p*** me off a bit when people say they're vegan or vegetarian and blatantly aren't! It's not as though it's compulsory to be either by law so why bother saying it if it isn't true?!

That's nothin'. My hubby's not even veg*n and he quizez me about all the stuff I buy! He looks at the ingredients of everything I buy and points out the ones that aren't vegan. And I am happy for it, because if I've missed it, then he will point it out. He's like my 2nd line quality assurance guy. Like these nut burgers I bought the other day. I don't know why, but I didn't even check the ingredients. Who woulda thought nut burgers not to be vegan!! They had both eggs and cheese in them!! Good on hubby for looking out for me
