Carl Lewis.

Nothing shuts down that 'vegans are unhealthy' bollocks faster than mentioning vegan with 9 gold Olympic medals.

He's my favorite as well.

aww I was going to go with Scott Adams but I looked him up and he's lacto/lacto-ovo ('eats dairy but avoids eggs when he can')

I guess Jennifer Connolley (grargh can't spell it) then

I adore him! How could we have forgotten him??? We read Talkin' Turkeys at my school in the year 5 poetry unit.

On the back of the Animal free Shopper he says:

Animal Free Shopping has always been a way of life for me; it is the most compassionate statement a shopper can make. My only concern is that I too am an animal but I can never seem to shop for free.

****I have a blog--check me out!

Talkin' Turkeys is probably my favourite.

Although... I really like the one about like a recipe for Britain or something too but I've forgotton the name of it. I feel very bad for forgetting him.

Anyone heard of Emily Deschanel? Evidently, she's an actress on a show called Bones.

I first heard of her reading CNN where they posted her vegan cookie recipe:

1½ cups rolled oats

1¼ cups spelt flour

1¼ cups oat flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup maple syrup

1 cup canola oil

1 tsp vanilla

1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1½ cups chopped walnuts

Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In medium bowl combine rolled oats, spelt flour, oat flour, salt and baking soda.

In large bowl whisk together maple syrup, canola oil and vanilla. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Mound dough by level tablespoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake 11-13 minutes or until evenly browned. Cool on baking sheets for 3 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Emily Deschanel, without a doubt.

I met her at the Farm Sanctuary Gala in NY in May and she stayed and chatted with me and my friend for quite a while. She was so incredibly sweet and genuine, which is a rarity these days when it comes to celebrities and she does so much good. Not only helping out with Farm Sanctuary and other animal organizations but she also attends benefits to help people.

There's an interview with her in the June/July issue of Statement Magazine in which she talks about being vegan - (you can read the scans here)

Mine would be Emily Deschanel too, absolutely. She is briljant actress and use her fame to do good things. Not just to animals, to humans too.

We have so many airheaded celebreties in these days that it really is nice to see that there are some of them who really can use their position to do good.

Davey Havok. First vegan-celebrity encounter [ok if we want to be technical, it was Hunter Burgan]. These guys are responsible for opening my eyes -after 8 years of vegetarianism- to veganism and it's benefits Not that I'd call myself vegan, but I'm getting there. Davey was just so sweet and down to earth. All of AFI were really lovely...they need to get their a$$es back to Australia [and/or release another album. Live albums don't count!]
