what is your favorite vegan comfort food??

Hi guys, I keep bouncing back and forth between vegetarian and vegan. The times I get tripped up on being fully vegan is when I need comfort food. Please share what your favorite comfort meals are! Thank you!

I just veganize all my favorite foods/meals! So if there's certain meals that you're getting "tripped up" on, I def recommend veganizing those meals! That way you still get the meals you love, you don't miss out on anything!

the many, many ways of seitan
white bean cassoulet

Here is an idea for a vegan comfort food:

Slice tempeh into big, thin pieces, maybe 3 x 2 inches and about 1/2 inch thick. Spread mustard on one side of each piece, then marinate for six hours in equal parts soy sauce, lemon juice, and olive oil. Finally, fry in a non-stick skillet, lightly coated with spray vegetable oil, flipping once or twice while cooking, until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Vegan potato gratin made with soy cream and lots of garlic!

And seitan satay with peanut sauce and mee goreng, love the stuff.

And just a really simple spaghetti with home made marinara. The good things in life are often the simple things

Lately I've been obsessed with mashed potatoes with Tofurky gravy, there was a bunch on sale after Christmas so I stocked up. It's soooooo good.

Also this was the greatest thing I learned when I became vegan:

There are so many recipes and so many vegan food geniuses online, there hasn't been a single craving I've had that I haven't been able to satisfy with a vegan version.

What are your non-vegan comfort foods? If you tell me a few of them I can point you in the direction of some incredible vegan options!

Comfort food = Home made bread and soup.
Go to food = apples and bananas... because there is no prep. They are the ultimate fast food.

Fatty: pan fried Gardein fishless filets with homemade tartar sauce, Peppered Tofurky on sourdough toast with Just Mayo and tomato slices, or veggie burgers

Carby: hummus or babaganoush with pita chips or whole grain crackers, various pasta dishes, or vegan pizza

Sweet: dark chocolate dipped in natural peanut butter, vanilla hemp milk, pineapple or bananas, orange juice, chocolate hazelnut milk, Annies strawberry bunny fruit snacks, Lenny and Larry's lemon poppyseed or double chocolate meal replacement cookie, lemon zest Luna bars

I had to come back to this thread because I discovered the most amazing recipe for a vegan jalapeño popper style grilled cheese. Follow the recipe exactly, of course you can use Tofutti cream cheese and Follow Your Heart cheddar style instead of Daiya, but use all of the ingredients and cook exactly as described on your favorite vegan bread (I like sourdough). I'm telling you, if you crave cheese flavor, or like jalapeño poppers, this sandwich is absolutely incredible. There's a right way and a wrong way to use vegan cheese.. this is one of the right ways:

Totally agree with lots of the suggestions above Comfort food for me depends on the season, and what I'm in the mood for. Right now, as it's been cold, it's carby stuff all the way!! ^_^ All your favourite foods can be made vegan; whenever I have a massive craving for a favourite, I find a way to veganize it. Some of my favourites lately have been "chicken" salad sandwiches (made with chickpeas or vegan chick'n instead of meat) and breakfast sandwiches (the kind on an english muffin) made with Sol sausage patties, homemade mini "omelettes" and Daiya cheddar slices.

I make my spaghetti sauce the same way I always did, only with TVP instead of ground beef; it's so good I make creamy sauces with cashew cream or silken tofu.

I also adore Asian inspired foods: Veggie spring rolls, veggie stirfry with rice or noodles, Singapore noodles, miso ramen, the list goes on and on (and all can easily be made vegan ^_^)

And soups, lots of soups - all kinds - great way to feel comfort and get your veggies in!! ^_^ Always with a big hunk of French bread - YUM

Have you tried the Daiya mac n cheese yet? It is to die for!

Also, where do you find vegan choc chip cookies?
