Vegan tips?

I am a new Vegan and I feel like I am not getting enough nutrients or eating not enough of the right foods. Does anyone have any tips? What are the essential foods to eat?

Hi cc8303!

Do you feel like you're hungry or just tired? Sometimes when you're transitioning to a new diet it can take awhile to adjust. I'd say just be sure you're eating a wide variety of produce, grains and legumes. Beans are especially great for getting protein and iron. Also make sure you're getting enough calories, a lot of vegan food is lower calorie by default so it can be easy to under-eat without realizing it at first.

This is a great site for vegan health tips: http://www.veganhealth.org/

Hi cc8303!

For all questions nutrition, for us to be able to assist you, you should post a sample menu of what you typically eat in a day. From there, we can make suggestions based on the food quantity as well as the quality, as well as make a rough guesstimate if you're getting a proper balance. However, these are things you can track yourself through Fitday or Myfitnesspal or any other free food tracking website, as most of these sites provide a nutrition breakdown of what you're eating.

I mean, if you're worried about the nutrients, you could easily add a multi vitamin supplement (check the ingredient list to see if animal products were used, obviously).

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.
