So you don't go to any restaurants that sell nonvegan food? What about grocery stores? Hardware stores with candy by the register? Plus aren't you freegan? Is this enough questions yet?

Starbucks has had nondairy milk available at all of its locations for as long as they have been in my area, so almost all of their coffees and their chai has been available in a vegan option. I think this simply means that there will be some vegan baked goods available.

No I don't. But that's really incidental to the topic.

Don't know any vegan only grocery stores. Either way, that's still incidental.

Observant, but not sure from what angle you're bringing this up.

The reason I "F THIS IM OUT"'d was because the thread title suggested a well known coffee chain your average VeggieBoards visitor would recognize was "going vegan" which I took to mean "ALL vegan". To hear Starbucks will "offer vegan options" isn't just not "going vegan", but it's also not news. Starbucks will continue to sell non-vegan things just like it will continue to sell vegan things. It's been selling vegan stuff like juice, fruit, and soymilk lattes for years, all it's suggesting with this is that it will make that stuff more available.

That's like saying Wal-Mart is "going vegan" because it doubled the size of it's produce section.

And as far as my interest in Starbucks is concerned, I'm not. I've only had coffee twice in my entire life and I've disliked it both times.

I don't really remember the first time I had coffee, but I tried it again recently with soymilk and caramel (since I figured it would thin it out a bit) and it was still so bitter to me I added not 1, not 2, not 3, but 27 packets of sugar to it. And even then I couldn't finish it and came away with a stomach ache.

Just called one of the Starbucks in my town to check if we have that option too in my province. They do! Now I feel stupid to assume there was no vegan option for milk lol. I'm all for vegan baked products though! That's even better for an occasional treat.

It's nice that another major company is making this step to offer a few vegan products, but you still couldn't get me to pay big bucks for their overpriced, sugar laden drinks or snacks on a regular basis. Maybe once or twice a year someone will rope me into getting Starbucks with them. They've had soy milk for as long as I can remember. Even before giving up regular milk, I always thought it tasted better in their chia tea lattes. Wonder if their syrups weren't vegan or just the baked goods?

I'm not a coffee drinker or a starbucks fan, but I'm a fan of more vegan options everywhere!

Totally agree with this...

Very misleading.

The syrups are vegan, but many of the thicker sauces aren't (pumpkin spice and white chocolate, for instance). None of the baked goods were vegan when I worked there.

More options is great. We always had the option of tea, plain black coffee, vanilla soy latte. More options are great. Gotta love advancement.

This is going to sound mean but can you check and see if they have one item on the menu that is vegan and gluten free? I'm sooooo sick of having to make a choice depending on how low my blood sugar is and whether I'm carrying a snack in my bag. I don't always remember to bring along a snack and you would not believe how hard it is to find something I can eat that is vegan and gluten free.

Really? You should come here! We have lots of vegan grocery stores, including Viva La Vegan, which is the largest vegan supermarket on earth.

This discusses gluten free options. Not sure which ones are vegan, but you can probably find that out easily.

Sorry if you found it misleading. The fact that a huge chain like Starbucks is investing in vegan food products is a really positive thing and shows they are responding to customer demand. We should be applauding them and not pointing out the negatives. You will never get a chain like Starbucks to ONLY sell vegan products, that's life. But it is great to see change and I wanted to highlight that. It's great I will be able to go out and socialise at one of the worlds best know brands without having to worry about what to eat/drink.

It's a sign of great progress, and indeed to be applauded.

Don't let the negativity discourage you.

Actually if it is a guarantee that every location will offer these options, it is pretty good progress. Right now, Starbucks get a lot of freedom to not offer certain things or participate in promotions. Every one I have ever been to has told me they don't do SOMETHING at one point or another.
