Hello, all! I am planning on going vegan this summer, and I need a new pair of shoes, anyway. My question is, how can a person tell if the shoes are vegan if they are not marked vegan or are from a vegan brand? Is there any place on the shoe that I could tell if it contains leather or not, and the glue?
Also, you can look Zappos vegan list and get an idea of what brands have vegan shoes: http://www.zappos.com/vegan New Balance also has vegan gym shoes (well, I don't know about the glue). I don't have an updated list, but you can email them for one. But they will list whether there is skin on the shoe or not if you look here: http://shopnewbalance.com
Personally I don't worry about glues. The materials aren't always well labelled on shoes, though, so it can be a bit aggravating.
If you're looking for something specific maybe we can help (faux leather dress shoes, cvos, desert boots).
I am just looking for a good running shoe. I want to exercise more this summer. :P All of my other shoes are still in good condition, so I will use them until they wear out/I can afford to get a newer pair of vegan ones.
Yeah, new balance and asics have several non leather options. Don't believe the New Balance "made in america" nonsense, though. They outsource a lot now. I did, however, pick up a pair of nb's for $30 at Marshalls a while ago.
