I need a vegan margarine. I thought smart balance was but my omni friend just pointed out it has whey. Thx

I used to avoid soy but ill consume a little if its organic and fermented lol

Smart Balance LIGHT is the one you need. There is also Earth Balance. Both available at most grocery stores.

I use Spectrum canola oil spread. It's good for spreading on bread, but I'm not sure I would trust it for baking.

depends where you are, I use Nuttelex (sp) and medowlea dairy free in Australia.

Went vegetarian on the 27th December 2013!

I use Becel vegan margerine. It explicitly states that it is vegan on the lid.

That's weird. There's no obvious animal ingredients in the ingredients list. What about it isn't vegan exactly?
