So Ken turns 50 this year. (Barbie turns 52.)

Just in time for Valentine's Day, what is the secret of their enduring relationship? Is it Ken's impossibly perfect hair? Barbie's VERY well kept figure? Their combined impeccable fashion sense? Is it the fact that they shatter the myth that the female partner has to be younger than the male partner in order for the couple to be satisfied?

Inquiring minds want to know!

ETA: Actually, now that I think about it, they are both very liberated these days. I believe Ken has completely forgiven Barbie for that tryst she had in a parked tank with GI Joe when both Barbie and Joe were deployed to Afghanistan.

'Well kept' figure? Liberated?

If that's the role model you want your little girls to have...

Who needs sleep when we've got love?
Who needs keys when we've got clubs?
Who needs please when we've got guns?
Who needs peace when we've gone above?

My first Barbie was a "Midge". I don't think she kept up with the times, and was dumped.

I think the fact that they are brother and sister - you can't get rid of your family as easily..they tend to stick around longer.

Brother? He's always been her boyfriend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...bie.27s_family

Anyway, I remember having a few Barbies but my mum wouldn't let me have boy dolls for some reason. I didn't want Ken though, I wanted Action Man because atleast he had a pet wolf etc. I definetly remember having a Christie doll, she was a vet. I remember I had to choose between Barbie vet or Christie vet and I wanted Christie because she came with a cat. I also used to love cutting my Barbies hair really short and making them lesbians >.> my Barbies were certainly liberated lol.

Also, I never wanted to look like Barbie. I wanted to be Mulan lol.

I had a lot of Barbies and a few Kens. I never wanted to look like her, I just liked all her clothes. I also had the Barbie airplane and house. I think I just liked the plane and house because of all the cute miniature things in them. The house was a tall 3 story one, which eventually became a shelf to store junk on. Barbies house looked like a hoarder lived there. Hmmm....Hoarder Barbie.

I had Barbie and The Rockers who I would pretend to have a sort of "battle of the bands" against Jem and the Holograms.

I bet Hoarder Barbie lives next to Feeder Barbie and Ken. There goes that impossible figure.
