Yeah, I definitely prefer Criminal Minds to those other crime shows (except the British ones! Waking the Dead = best ever), even though it can be a little more sick (soooo many times they go 'so this guy is a sexual sadist', I saw an episode where a guy was kidnapping women, keeping them locked in a box in his cupboard and using medieval torture instruments like the pear of anguish on them for months until they died, horrible stuff). It benefits from dealing with only one case at a time so there is time to pay attention to the characters and what they're up to, unlike CSI for example which crams in 2 every episode. They find what they do very hard, someone is always having a crisis because of it, which is good, they're not taking the horrible, horrible deaths they see every week in their stride ---> healthier.
It's very out there though, I'm pretty sure serial killers are extremely rare, not so common that they would be inundated with requests for their services everyday. Plus they're right 99% of the time, even though as they were saying in an episode the other day, profiling is just intelligent guesswork. But that's cool, it's just a show, they don't have to be factually accurate all the time. I think it's hilarious when they decide 'IT'S TIME TO GIVE THE PROFILE!' and then they each say a sentence each so that everyone gets a line.
Right, now I need to go and watch all those episodes
