So I've been a vegetarian for three weeks now and I was just wondering if you guys had any tips for food for Christmas because I'm the only vegetarian in my family/friends.

No real advice here as we have been vegetarians for the same amount of time. My plan was to just eat side dishes and veggies. And I am bringing vegan cupcakes for dessert! You could always just bring something to share but that is safe for you to eat. Good luck!

Do the best you can, avoid all the obvious non-vegetarian dishes, and don't beat yourself up if you discover you've consumed incidental meat products by mistake (gelatin, rennet, etc). You're just three weeks into this and it takes time to learn all the do's and don'ts. Fill up on side-dishes and have plenty of vegetarian snacks on hand (veggies, cheese snacks if you're lacto, chips, salsa, etc). Most holiday gatherings I've been to in the past have had relish trays and plenty of other veggie items to snack on. Good luck and congrats on becoming vegetarian!

I'd offer to bring a dish or two. If you google "vegetarian dishes for omnivores", you'll find tons of recipes to make, and the omnis likely won't know the difference.

We have cattle farmers in our family (they usually host the holiday shindigs), so we're pretty used to sneaking in veg-friendly dishes.

I'll see if I can dig up a couple of specific ideas for ya.

Usually I'm at someone else's house, so I just eat whatever veg-friendly stuff is served. Most of the time, all or almost all of the side dishes are just fine, and there's usually enough for me to more than make a meal.

The last few years I've been bringing my own vegan spinach and sweet potato/yam cannelloni dish! Most people don't think or realise it's vegan and it's delicious. Might not be a traditional Christmas dish but I'm italian so it's always worked for me.

Smurfbabe, where can I find that recipe? It looks YUM!
